I find it bizarre and humorous that many fans who mock our QB young duo as the worst ever will be the first to complain bitterly if one or either has a good game and the Jets win. I personally think Cook in his short appearance looked more alive and decisive under ridiculous circumstances, zero chemistry with the starters, entering on his first game ever down 21-0, wherein the WRs and the running game decided to take the day off and the inept defense failed to stop anyone.
They won't complain about him/them having a good game but will bemoan the fact that the Jets once again win when it doesn't matter and all the win does is fuck the next season. Starting the season 0-7 kind of leaves you grasping at straws and those straws are the #1 pick.
I said it in another thread, I didn't hate what I saw from Cook last week. Especially since exactly what you said all happened to him.. I would say on a positive note, he completed multiple passes to the TE's which was encouraging to see them part of the game...
With any luck one of these guys turns out to be something worthwhile and the JETS only have to add ONE QB..... granted luck and JETS are two things that rarely go together.
Agree, but as I have said many times, IMO, most all bottom dwellers who have been recipient of many, many number one picks never amounted to much, but teams with good leadership have turned around the team in short fashion, simply by drafting top talent available with their pick. We have had more than our share of the former. I believe that developing a mentality that learns how to win trumps everything, hand in hand with knowing how to draft when your number is called.
We've seen less of Cook so, technically there's a little more "reason to believe". I know, I'm reaching.
