I'd be okay with Tyrod coming back to mentor a young QB, especially having been in Tanner Engstrand's system. His durability will always be a concern.
Agreed. Vinny Testaverde wasn't a superstar QB and then Parcells brought him to the Jets and the team became a SB contender.
The more I look at this list, the more I hope Tyrod finishes strong, the vibes are high and he chooses to come back here and be part of the culture while mentoring whatever young QB we have on the roster. Consumate pro that can still play but also clearly has no problem taking a backup role.
The Jets need a young QB. A high draft pick. Fans including myself were very upset they didn't draft one in 2025. They can't do that again.
I'd be ok with a completely new QB room in 2026. Perhaps bring back Cook to compete for a roster spot based on how he plays towards the ends of this season. Fields gone. Tyrod gone. No big deal. Gimme a high draft pick QB. A youngish veteran QB a Jameis Winston type.
https://x.com/MLFootball/status/1998897454490788001?s=20 Very interesting comments from Burrow. Forcing a trade doesn’t sound crazy. "If I want to keep doing this, I have to have fun doing this," Burrow told reporters. "I have been through a lot. If it's not fun, then what am I doing it for? That is the mind set I am trying to bring to the table."
Agreed. And if he is a QB3, he is taking a roster spot from someone who can actually step in and play when needed. Tyrod seems to be done. If we want him to be a mentor, hire him as some sort of QB assistant coach, kind of like Josh McCown when he started out.
The Vikings are probably the most logical landing spot. The Falcons make sense if they fire the coach and let him be involved in the process. The Colts probably would’ve been an option if they didn’t piss their cap space and capital away on a corner. The Raiders are a bad roster but an appealing location & Brady as a recruiter. Dare I say the Jaguars might be a suitor? They can send Lawrence back. Yeah the Jets are way down on the list for sure. Keep in mind that the Bengals also told Carson Palmer to go pound sand til they found the trade they wanted. So I don’t think that’s impossible here either.
The contract JAX gave Lawrence.... He's not leaving JAX any time soon, for better or for worse.... and Burrow is way too "Hollywood" for Jacksonville...
Eh the contract stuff is moot though. I’m sure Burrow’s contract is “impossible” to move too until teams find a way to do it. They have very similar deals only a year apart. No doubt he might want to go to a bigger market as he’s become a star and likes all the fancy things. He’s still a small town kid from Ohio who went to Ohio State and Louisiana. Not exactly a lot of bright lights in those places. Wouldn’t it be something if the Rams move their two first rounders + if Stafford retires?
Amen to that. He is a younger, better-looking version of Joe WN with the same winning demeanor. He would conquer NY
Difference is that teams would be willing and eager to take Burrows contract. I actually thought about that Rams scenario...
