Oh yeah, how could I forget about Shedeur! Definitely it was Ward and Sanders last year, and then Sanders dropped like a sack of shit. Looks like there are more exceptions than I thought. For now I am quite confident in Moore and Mendoza since I have watched both of these guys quite a bit, and I think there is something there. Simpson I watched only two games, which were not great. There is more left though, let's see how it all plays out. But Moore looks legit, I still think he likely goes #1 overall if he declares, unless he shits the bed going forward, someone will trade up very high to get him.
uStadium is mostly garbage. I wouldn't trust much of anything they say. Beyond them though... I think he ends up coming out because he's going to be a top pick, make more money than staying and won't risk losing that top pick status/guaranteed money. Basically any QB who is going to go in the first round is guaranteed to make at least $12 million over the next four years. In the case of a top 10 pick, it's more like $25 million over four years. Maybe the kid loves Oregon, who knows, but money will always talk.
"Also said the Jets have already begun exploring trade-up scenarios into the top few picks to secure a QB." Of course. There's no way we aren't wasting a bunch of draft picks to trade up 3 spots in the draft.
I know NOTHING about Moore except for what @Jonathan_Vilma has shared. So, I'll ask him: @Jonathan_Vilma, IS Moore worth blowing a King's ransom to go get in 2026? Basically, you can flush our entire 1st round in the next two years to do it. You all know my thoughts on Mendoza. I wouldn't trade a 3rd rounder to move up to get that guy. He falls to us, he falls. Z-E-R-O trade ups for Mendoza. Moore???
I don’t think I’ll ever advocate for a trade up in my lifetime to be honest so no, I wouldn’t do it for Moore. With that being said I think I do prefer Moore over Mendoza. I do want to see both in the playoffs. Moore played ok against Penn State when they were still relevant and he looked like shit against Indiana. They took the ball out of his hands against Iowa. I think the raw skill is there for sure, moreso than Mendoza but Mendoza has the better production in college. I think Moore has better potential to layer the ball in the NFL and get it down the field. I think he’s a better overall athlete too even though he’s a pocket passer/run out of necessity not choice guy.
Please no trade up for anybody. Conversely, let's trade down. Go after Kyler Murray if Arizona is OK to eat the chunk of his salary. Use picks to solidify the talent on the team. Compete for a playoff spot next year. If Glenn can't deliver, can him and dangle the 3 first round picks in 2027 draft in front of a hot shot OC with track record and go from there.
Moore has an effortless motion that honestly is hard for me not to love. He just stands there, yawns, pokes his arm out there like hes shooting darts at the tavern and instead its a football and it goes 50 yards downfield this throw at the 1:00 mark from the USC game is totally inspiring
But can he read defenses and/or go through his progressions? Tired of cannon arm QB's with little football IQ.
He is actually more known for his composure in the pocket and working through his progressions. Thats why the arm strength is inspiring to me. But the problem is he's sitting back in that pocket at Oregon with 5 star studs everywhere on the field from their Nike money. Its hard to tell if he would be that quick and composed in the pocket when hes getting chased down by an NFL edge rusher that is trying to feed his family
Yeah my concern with him is that Oregon runs a lot of shallow crossers that end up wide open and it’s an easy catch and run for 30 yards. But I pause that concern because Bo Nix had a lot of the same plays and he looks to be a solid NFL QB despite some of his struggles this year. He did play a lot more football in college though. Trading up is a non-starter for me too. If we were going to need to trade up then they really should’ve started Brady Cook and Fields all year long or have Folk shank kicks left and right and ride the moral victory train of playing hard even in losses.
I don't know much about any of these QBs, but my sense is that Mougey won't overpay to move up in the draft. Look at the trades he's made so far. He's all about getting value when making trades. Philly won the SB without a top QB, but the remaining roster was loaded with talent. The Jets have the draft capital to load up with talent.
Absolutely! Unless there is, literally, an Andrew Luck and it's a near 98% certainty, I'll never promote trading up. The draft is just such a crap shoot and I see these teams that blow wads of capital to move up only to get absolutely screwed in the end. Cleveland is THE example of this since their expansion. Moves like that cripple franchises. There are more unicorns walking the earth than teams, like the 49'ers, that blow an insane amount of capital on a guy only to have, literally, Mr. Irrelevant become a pro bowl QB with more appearances in Super Bowls than ANY Jets player ever! So, no, I like keeping all the picks and grabbing whomever falls. Not like we can't use any and all positions that fall to us. I understand we need a QB but this, literally, is the textbook definition of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It's also a minor miracle that Trey Lance is STILL in the league, on his what 3rd or 4th team? Even more shocking is the few on this board who actually made the suggestion of trading/picking this guy up! Seriously? May as well keep Fields. At least he can run the ball.
It would not be a waste if we end up with Moore. He is a legitimate top level QB prospect, like Stroud and Maye level. You add this beast to the team, and maybe our fortunes can finally change. He is probably going #1 overall though, and we might be out of reach. But if by some miracle he does not, and we are within the striking range, we'd better make a move.
That was me not to trade up for him but select him after trading back, only for him to go 3rd, he has been awful, but his college film was very good lol In my defence, I hated that fucking throw from Wilson and never wanted him
