Didn’t even know he had a snap today. JSN had 8 catches for 167 yards and 2TDs. I believe he’s on pace to break the receiving yards record albeit with an extra game.
I'm trying to figure this kid out. How does a guy go from having some PHENOMENAL games to completely disappearing entirely. Not just disappearing for stretches but entire games and/or stretches of games? Blows my mind. I don't know why they just don't move him to LB and call it a day. He's too small to stay on the line.
Yeah he’s a strange case…he can go from 4 sacks in a game to zero tackles in the next game…can’t remember seeing a player like that But he sure looks like a great situational pass rusher type role guy… We need a starting EDGE player in the draft in a big way…our biggest need outside of QB, on par with WR and even more important than CB and S, which we also need.
Ya he seems to compile all his sacks in a few games, not sure, if he needs the right situation to be effective, but its looking that way
Hopefully it's different if we are ever playing with a lead several games in a row. It's hard to evaluate these guys when we are always playing from behind at the end of games when those guys can just pin their ears back.
McDonald is what he is. A situational streaky pass rusher that gets around 10 sacks a year. Nothing wrong with that unless you expect him to play a larger roll. You need good mid tier guys to be successful.
Articles 2 days in a row on WMD IV from Michael Nania over at Jets X Factor. https://jetsxfactor.com/2025/11/26/ny-jets-will-mcdonald-situation-developing/ https://jetsxfactor.com/2025/11/27/ny-jets-debunk-popular-defense-will-mcdonald/ This 2nd one says "Some Jets fans agreed that McDonald has not been delivering what the Jets need from him; these fans also commonly rued the Jets’ decision to select him over Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Other Jets fans, though, defended the third-year pass rusher." "As a starter and former first-round pick, he should be expected to produce at a high level no matter what the score is; after all, he did it last year."
McDonald's production definitely comes in waves. I would definitely like him to be a bit more consistent, but some of that is coaching too.
Another no-show from McDonald and just gave up contain on the touchdown. Being fair to him, there haven’t been a ton of straight Falcons drop backs that aren’t screen passes or bootlegs. But he’s such an irrelevant player.
Definition of hot and cold He did have a nice stop on one of those screens where he dropped off the pass rush and tackled Bijan…was good awareness
Quite frankly, - we could have kept a guy like Jacob Martin for relatively similar results & used the 2023 1st rounder on someone else (like your favorite JSN). $hit - Jack Campbell ILB for Detroit would have been 10 times better.
There’s not a single thing about the pick that was rooted in any logic. The defensive line was still loaded at that point and coming off a fantastic year. They added Quinton Jefferson before the draft too. There was no place for McDonald to really play in 2023. Any of the four receivers would’ve made more sense. A tackle to replace/compete with Duane Brown or Becton would’ve made sense. An ILB like Campbell would’ve made sense.
TJ Parker. Edge. Clemson. He will be in all of my mock drafts. Most likely with the first pick especially if it's closer to #10 than #1
I'd say "crazy" is a bit harsh. Look, there are only 11 people on that side of the ball every play. You simply can't be seeing nothing for massive stretches of the SEASON, let alone games, like we do from McDonald. Personally, I'd take is hand out of the dirt and move him to the Will backer in a 3/4. Better suited there.
I think we’re being overly critical because most didn’t care for picking him at the time, but his production is in line with where we drafted him. He’s had better production than Thibodeax, Van Ness who was drafted 2 spots higher, Tyree Wilson, and falls right in line with Travon Walker who was a #1 overall. He’s not an all world DE, but he’s a good player in his 3rd season.
Most of those players have been big disappointments except for Walker so I don’t really know how thet makes him a “good” player. He’s a liability versus the run and he doesn’t generate pressure consistently. He really has 2-3 really good games for his career and has mostly been a ghost other wise. Van Ness can’t even get on the field and Tyree Wilson plays sparingly. Both were considered big reaches too. He’s the equivalent of a mercenary pass rusher aka Yannick Ngakoue, Leonard Floyd, Emmanuel Ogbah, Dante Fowler, etc. You sign those guys for 1 year deals worth $11 million, you don’t burn top 15 picks on them.
