I hope and pray that is not the case. Starting all over again with a new HC and a so called “new culture” is exactly what we don’t need. But Wilkes is a goner.
Oh... you meant as DC and not HC.. I misunderstood.. Not sure about Rex as a DC either as years ago, he got blitz happy and the opposition shredded it. Rex's most enduring trait was his mouth which kept us all entertained. Once his blitz schemes was diagnosed, countermeasures became very effective. His record after 2011 kinda sealed his fate on the sidelines in either capacity.
Just saw that we have more wins than the Chiefs, Bucs and Colts since November 1. I know all things are not equal but it definitely says something.
My concern is that it feels like the Jets always seem to do better when the pressure is off - when it counts they crumble - every game since they went 0-7 has been like playing in garbage time - might as well got for the deep ball etc because you have got nothing to lose. I agree we are a good QB away from being competitive because a good QB makes more or less any team a contender but that has been the case for as long as I can remember - unfortunately the Jets seem to find it impossible to land a franchise QB.
Whatever this was + the commentary was awesome. Vilma kept criticizing him after that but I can’t find the longer clip. I legit laughed at it. https://x.com/NYJ_Matt/status/1995243750751342880?s=20
Interesting stat about wining since Nov 1... I have not watched this team this year (ist time sice forever) but if they finish strong and draft well...well, things can change.
Didnt know where else to put this, but I wish there was more of it: https://x.com/NFL/status/1995566983941947861?s=20
Also didn't know where to post this but seems relevant in a discussion about things feeling different: Ben Fennell @BenFennell_NFL Steelers haven't completed a downfield pass in 36 days. 0/13, 3 INTs last 5 games combined on 20+ Air Passes.
On top of that... does anybody really have to wonder why a rebuilding team trying to establish a good culture didn't want a guy around that would bury his teammates to the media when things aren't going well?
If Glenn continues to grow into at the very least a decent head coach, then everything rides on what our GM does with our treasure trove of draft capital. If Mougey gets it mostly right, and obviously he can't miss on the quarterback, I can see this team enjoying a long run of high level competitiveness.
Mougey and Glenn saw this and didn't want the drama.. As long as Rodgers and the Steelers were rolling, it was all cookies and cream. Now? Can't possibly be the QB that's the problem. Reminds me of the old Leon commercials from Budweiser.
AG is imo turning this team around. I am impressed and unlike many here, I want him around. First thing first, still ways to go but, the team continues to improve and this is without few guys/stars. AG’s Jets played was in every game to win vs Broncos, Panthers, Steelers and Buccaneers. These are no shit teams. The Ravens they had them but a key Hall’s fumble near goal line. it’s no secret the Jets are running the offense more efficiently under Taylor. I am rooting for AG.
Have to be honest, this was the only thing from the game that really got under my skin. Maybe I'm too ole' skool for these kids today but, god damn it, when you do something GOOD on the field, act like you meant to do it and walk back to the f'n huddle with class. This bullshit showboating has absolutely GOT to stop. Especially when you stop and realize you are in the middle of having yet won your THIRD game out of 12. Only makes you look like a jackass. Insult to injury, the officials thought it was stupid and excessive too. Nothing like costing your hard working, building a winning classy culture, team 15 yards when every play counts, because "you" have to be an idiot because...woo hoo...you actually DID your fucking job. No fumble recovery for a touchdown. No interception for a touchdown. Hell, not even a pick/fumble recovery for yardage. No, boy howdy, you tackled a guy. JSMH. THAT guy better get his head out his ass or he'll be working at Wal Mart next year. That boneheaded bullshit aside, yes, it does feel different. I was in the normal Jets fan mode of throwing Glenn out with the bathwater earlier in the season. Much like everyone else, I must learn some patience. His players playing hard for him is about all you can ask for at this juncture of a rebuild. It means the message is getting through. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season rolls out and this upcoming draft.
The Jets are definitely starting to buy in to to Glenn's program. The staggering amount of penalties has drastically decreased from an average of 8.4 flags and 70 yards a game to 3.67 and 22 yards. It's been a pleasure to watch the game unfold without a constant barrage of boneheaded blunders every other snap.
