AD can catch the ball just fine. Anyone who looks at those throws and come away thinking it’s the receiver’s fault, in his first game with said shitty QB that he has no chemistry with, needs to re-evaluate their player evaluation skills.
He’s absolutely spooked based off of everything that’s happened to him this season, albeit some of it self inflicted. The fact that he’s never had these issues leads me to believe it’ll course correct over time. Reminder this was also the first significant playing time he’s seen in over a month.
I am intrigued by his potential, and yes the throws were not great, but he needs to catch these going forward at much higher rate going forward. Can we agree a guy like Chad OchoCinco knows what's a drop and what isn't? https://x.com/ochocinco/status/1989481264886243746
A couple should have been caught but as others have mentioned new scheme, prime time, new team, new QB and hasn't played in a while. I get it, I think he will improve.
Not really. That’s not a drop. At the very most it’s equal blame but that’s a terribly thrown ball where a guy who is running full speed upfield has to stop, dive backwards and make the catch falling to the ground. Reminder that Ocho Cinco has said some insanely dumb shit in his life such as “Zach Wilson is great”
I also expect him to improve, just want to stick to he facts as far as his performance on Thursday. I am intrigued and want to see more, there was some high end stuff there, but gotta catch the ball at a better rate, which I think he will. I think shared blame is fair. The pass was atrocious, if the ball is ahead of him, it is easier catch and could be TD. I have no issues if this is counted as a drop though. I think he can and will do better going forward.
Just bumping this back up, dude’s been here 3 weeks and it’s clear to see how much potential he has. The guy is flying around the field and was open a ton of times that Tyrod just wouldn’t pull the trigger. I’m a huge fan of this kid and I really think once we have a reasonable QB we’re going to be discussing whether he’s better than GW. His speed and route running are insane.
It doesn’t look like he’s ever going to jump over defenders down the field and catch deep balls or catch balls in heavy traffic over the middle. But… he’s 7-11, always open. What a fantastic guy to add to the roster and he’s only to get better when he gets more comfortable. It has to be so difficult to get added to a new team and you have to fly across the country, get a new apartment, get all your shit here, etc. and suddenly be the teams WR1 (with GW out).
It’s crazy man. I mentioned in the game thread that I was lucky enough to be in a suite today so I had an all-22 view. He is ALWAYS open. His speed and routes are picture perfect. I can’t wait to see what happens with Garrett back and healthy although not sure it will ever matter for as long as we’re gonna focus on the run. Either way, he’s absolutely got the skill set to be a 2 and now we have some tangible proof.
This is what I’m talking about. He has no business getting as open as he’s been since he got here but he’s doing it with ease. GW is more athletic and can contort himself in all different ways but Mitchell runs much crisper routes. There’s a reason Reggie Wayne was so upset to see him traded away.
Awesome game today from him. I think consistency will be a big question mark so let's see how he stacks games. But they have something with him. Could be a #2. From what I've seen though, at the least, it's a top 4 guy next year
If he can live up to his draft position, all of a sudden, we have some decent depth at the position. Still need another WR, but it will be fun to see how Garrett blends with Mitchell and Metchie. That's if he comes back this year from the IR
Looking like a hell of a trade It’s just fun to have a playmaker with every opportunity to create his own future
Sorry but this I disagree with. IMO = we'll have bigger fish to immediately fry at Edge/DE (replacing WMcDIV), LB & Safety. Even at DT. I'd have no problem rolling into 2026 season with GWilson #1, ADMitchell #2 & John Metchie at slot WR. Arian Smith is backup & maybe a late draft pick to develop and/or a vet to add. If we threw the damn ball more often to Breece (as we should) - it would bring more value.
I still think you can infuse some more receiver talent into the room and really supercharge it though. Mitchell’s showings are great and he should be on the field, but imagine adding another receiver and allowing GW5 navigate the middle of the field out of the slot? Metchie is a really nice #4 in that scenario.
I badly wanna say fuck it and go get Tate especially if we can trade down a few picks. Wilson, Tate, Mitchell, Metchie, Taylor and Breece would be one of the best situations a QB could walk into and the most stacked we’ve been since Holmes, Edwards, Cotch, Keller and Jones.
I think this is where I'm at. A QB pick doesn't need to necessarily need to be traded up for and forced. Its a cliche, but the draft is a crapshoot. The best QB in the 2025 draft was taken at 25. Indy loses a couple more games and we could be looking at a top 20 pick. Who's to say Ty Simpson (or whoever) doesnt fall to 20. Between the OL, WRs and RB, the Jets are in the best spot they've been in years for a rookie QB.
