im sure he will get a chance to be evaluated as well. Time to see at least the offense try to be on point and see what these WR’s can do. Cook likely will get the last few weeks to start.

I just don't want to go back to him like we did with Zach, let's not make the same mistake again and again. Taylor will get hurt soon enough. Get Brady Cook ready to play. Who knows maybe Cook can develop into longer term back-up. Fields will not be on the team next year.

Fields is terrible, it's too bad for our tank!

Somebody mentioned this in another thread, but I like the idea of starting Tyrod and having a wildcat package with Fields for certain down and distances. I mean, if the shit fits, wear it.

Agreed. Fields shouldn’t even be active next week or for the foreseeable future.

I'm not surprised he was benched. I am surprised Glenn stopped playing games about his decision. Wonder what changed

He probably found out that Taylor has been kicking around the league since 2011, hasn't done much, and whose best season was 8-6.

I’d imagine the groans in the locker room got pretty loud. I thought the Jets played a pretty well rounded game against the Patriots. A NFL quarterback who can throw the ball probably keeps that game within one score all game long with a crack at winning in the 4th quarter.

Are we trying to get a high draft pick or not? People want the #1 pick and a competitive team this year. Fields was doing the job we needed him to do. But then Taylor will only last for 2 game tops before the inevitable injury.

Easy answer... The entire NFL mediaworld started to collectively shit on both Fields for his play AND Glenn for running him out there. When you have every talking head program going into depth how much the Jets suck today, yesterday and possibly tomorrow, Glenn had no choice but to change the narrative especially knowing that you-know-who is watching. Someone from up top probably had "the talk" with Glenn and told him both to knock it off with the media and frankly stop the Fields experiment contract be damned.

Everybody, including Glenn, knew this state of affairs could not continue. Empty seats, fans selling their PSL's, the media forming a conga line to shit on the Jets daily. Glenn had to do SOMETHING or risk his own status.

This is a delicate situation. We need a high draft pick, but we want to evaluate and develop offensive players and coaches as well. Hopefully Tyrod can do what he has been doing so far: opening up passing offense, but then fuck up big now and then as well, so that we do not win. We can also always count on Wilks and the defense to contribute to the tank as well. But darn, that Browns "win" looms large as they need a QB as badly as we do in spite of wasting two picks on QBs last year.

Yeah, sign Cook to active roster and have him practice with the twos. Fields as emergency QB and running the scout team. If Cook can develop into a back-up next year, one less problem to worry about. Fields will be gone in a few months as a 10 mil save.

It's not delicate. Not in the slightest. There is NO consensus top 10 QB in the 2026 year's draft so we all need to stop acting like there is one. I don't give a shit if Mendoza "drops" to us or not. We sure as hell don't NEED the #1 pick in the draft to start rebuilding this team.
Win...that's what I want to see. I could care less today and twice on Sunday if they have the #1 pick. I don't CARE about Mendoza or any of the other "supposed top" QB's coming out this year. Not a one of them is worthy of a top 10 pick so we all need to stop acting like we're laying the groundwork to GET the #1 pick so that we can uselessly waste it on a kid not worthy of the slot, just because this year's crop of QB's is ass. Simply blows my mind. Focus on the task at hand. We've got so many holes that we'd need ELEVEN #1 picks to do a whole lot more than we're doing right now. Just my opinion.

Its so Jets that we can trade away two of our best players, basically conceding the tank season, an then go out and beat the Browns 3 days later.

The #1 pick is a great pick to trade.

These CAP figures are misleading. It's 10 extra mil. We are on the hook for 20 mil for this year and wanted to save on CAP hit, so we manipulated the CAP. It happens on all large contracts. In other words this dead CAP is what already happened plus the 10 mil we are going to have to eat. It's not a big deal. If all goes well, we will draft a QB, who will be cheap and the back-up will cost less than 10 mil. Heck maybe it will be Brady Cook for pennies.

Either way, the QB position even with the 10 mil we will have to eat will cost us less than Fields did this year. Plus we are paying 6 for Tyrod, which will come off the books. We will be just fine there. We just need to be in position to draft a good QB prospect.

Says who there is no top 10 QB? Seems like there is consensus Mendoza is Goff/Matt Ryan type. That's top prospect. I certainly would love to have young Matt Ryan on this team. Think Vinny Testaverde like production of 1998 more or less every year. I can live with 4 pro bowls, rookie of the year, pro bowl, offensive player of the year, MVP, SB appearance. Whom exactly did we have like this since Namath? So, you have to excuse me, but I do not share the sentiment that drafting a guy with this type of potential is useless. Having shit at QB didn't exactly work, did it?

As far as holes, they announced in the last game that 8 out of 11 starters in NE on defense were cuts at some point. Then one high draft pick in Gonzalez and two FA DTs. It's possible to build a good defense with good coach without 11 #1 picks. What's not possible is to win consistently without a good QB. As far as wins, I want them when they matter. Not meaningless wins that ruin your draft position for a QB you desperately need and do nothing. Haven't we seen this before already time and time and time again? Did you want to get that meaningless win in 2023 to stick it to Belichick in his final game? That gave them Maye on a sliver platter for next 15 years. Who exactly stuck it to whom?

Let's get a good QB in the draft and win when it matters, not whether to decide whether we win 3 or 5 times in a garbage lost season.
