The depth guys on defense and awful and definitely nobody is coaching them up. Like that nonsense with that Brownlee dude giving his man an extra 10 yards because he didn't bother touching him down. That dude should have been walking into the tunnel after that play, instead he was on the field for the very next play.
This, we did have some talent. We won 5 games last year and won't sniff that this year. Not to mention most games we lost last year were by a score or less, we are so much worse this year. EVERY player has been worse this year except the punter and kicker. Guys I really liked last year suck this year and it can only be coaching, so sick of hearing we have no talent. This team was never meant to be this bad, we were sold on some wins this year and a team to be proud of, bullshit.
We have Woody to blame He did the same shit that has not worked in the past and went and found a rookie DC coach And banked on the He was a great Jet nostalgia to sell it I didn’t buy it then and I still hate it now
Is Fields a relative of Glenn? Perhaps the son he didn't know he had? This overly protective stance Glenn is taking is reminiscent of a parent protecting their child. He seems to bend over backwards to give both Fields and Clemons a pass but will bring down the thunder on just about everyone else. Something else is going on here. Perhaps after wasting $30m of Woody's cash in his first year, Glenn might be feeling just a bit salty. $30m should have produce better stats out of his first choice as QB of the NYJ's but so far?.... nope Can Glenn, who appears to be both stubborn to a fault and proud, admit he made a mistake with Fields? I'm starting to think that answer is a resounding... NO
That, right there, is what separates the successful managers vs. failures. The ability to reflect, acknowledge mistakes and correct vs. the stubborn know it all.
Curtis Martin I would've bought into hook, line and sinker. The Jets or Coach A.G. now presented as Mr. Jet this dude retired as a Houston Texan. So I see through it.
Yeah I agree. The whole "only job I wanted" narrative has felt like a little too much. Maybe some truth, but always felt a little idealistic and a selling point
We can only hope Mougey makes the next hire. In fact, I hope Mougey becomes the defacto VP of Football Ops. since Woody won't hire one. Give him Howie Roseman powers and lets get shit straight for once.
I would hope that, if Woody ever did hire a VP of Football Ops, that he could find one more qualified than Mougey.
This VP of football ops - that's just another guy that Woody hires, where he will get it wrong. What's the difference if he hires a GM/HC or a VP, who then hires GM/HC? Woody still needs to get it right, which is the root cause of the problem. The issue not that we do not have a VP. That position is unnecessary, very few teams do it now days. The issue is that Woody cannot find a right guy, which will also be true when it comes hiring a VP. So, we can just rule out the need for a VP right now. Woody needs to hire the right guy, period. We can call him VP, GM, HC, whatever. But someone who knows what he is doing. And Woody is just simply not capable of doing it. He was close to stumbling in Vrabel this year, but NE opened up. Vrabel was available before, but Woody was too dumb to keep Joe and Bob. And now here we are. VP or not.
Woody didn't almost stumble into a Vrabel hiring. Vrabel was never coming here. Any one of us here had as much chance of becoming the Jets HC in January as Vrabel.
This is the real problem Woody has no fucking clue who the right hire would be. As long as he is making the decisions on who to hire, and then as long as he starts to interfere in any real decisions, we will continue to suck ass. It starts from the top When the leader is an imbecile, the team can not flourish
Wilks may be one and done.. Jets DC Steve Wilks in Danger of Being Fired Amid Struggles I got no problem with this...
If Woody is going to jump in and demand changes to the staff that he just empowered Glenn to hire after just a year, then he needs to clean house. It'll just get worse going into next season if we're already at this point before the end of year one. There's absolutely no way that this coaching staff should be trusted to develop all of this influx of potential talent that they're about to get with 5 first round picks in the next two years.
100%, Glenn chose Fields and Wilks, both are gigantic failures. This is insanely early in a coaching regime for talk of in season coordinator firings. I've never been this down on this team, I just don't see the light.
That's because there isn't any. It's going to get worse over the next two years because the coaching has just been so poor and, barring a drastic turnaround, most likely will continue to be poor. It won't be until most, if not all, of these acquired draft picks have been used that Woody will figure out that he made the wrong hire and try to course correct with the next up-and-coming DC that's never been an HC before.
I’m with you This is the kind of stuff I mean when I look at AG and see VERY little to give me any kind of hope. His decisions on DC and QB were both total and utter shit. With the defense, Wilks HAS to go….we have ONE takeaway through 10 games, which is the worst in the NFL going back literally decades. We are not just bad. We are setting historical records of bad. But AG chose Wilks and he chose Fields. He owns those choices and they both suck balls. I have very little hope that AG will be the guy. He hasn’t shown enough signs. He inherited a poor roster, yes, but I will still maintain it wasn’t THIS bad. His staff has made it worse. He couldn’t figure out how to maximize two all pro players. That’s on coaching. It just is. He gets this year I’m fine with that…but if we continue to look like we’ve looked so far, if it were my call, I’d fire him and go beg McCarthy to come use 5 first round picks and build us a playoff team. He did it at Dallas. He would be my choice. I would also be fine going to try and convince Kliff Kingsbury to come choose a QB and build an offense and a team here as well. I’m sure Woody won’t, so we’ll have to suffer through next season and likely the 2027 season as well, and that’s what has me so down… I hate the prospect of wasting more seasons watching a DC try to learn on the job.
Wilks never made sense to me and he "sat out" 2024 which sounded like bullshit. If Aaron Glenn needs to use his Coordinator Scapegoat lifeline just to get out of his rookie season with a job, he's behind the 8-ball already.
