    He was my favorite player.
    I bought a 74 jersey

    I'm sad he's gone.

My wife and I were walking down the street in Lima, Peru looking for a place to watch football. I was checking out the Jets/Bengals game score when I saw the ESPN headline of Nick Mangold's passing. I stopped dead in my tracks and told my wife. I admit, I did well up a bit as he was one of my all-time favorite players.

We did come across an Irish bar called Molly's that had the game on. By this time it was midway through the 4th qtr. We sat down next to a table with 3 dudes who were in Peru for a seniors rugby tourney. We got to chatting and the one guy was a huge Bengals and Ohio State fan. I told him about Nick Mangold and he to was bummed as they were both from Centerville, OH. When the Jets came back and won, he said, "I'm glad the Jets won, and we toasted to #74.
