I think its more Fields is just so worried about turnovers that he is way to cautious. The last time we had this situation was Sam the year we started 0-13. Turnovers are bad but the QB still has to keep slinging and give our play makers a chance. That said, no to drafting a top 3 QB. TRADE THE PICK!
its utterly apparent that they have no confidence in Fields. Either change the QB (please) or get fired because you are not going to win with this stiff.
Needs to be benched. It is all but impossible to win with this level of production. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is where my head is at. No QB from this class looks worthy of being selected that high. Rather trade down and take a swing at QB on day 2. Maybe multiple swings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, and you get capital to build out your roster plus ammo for a QB the next draft. If the day 2 guy doesn't fly.
Imagine trying to see this team when the weather gets worse? They are all kinds of a mess. Woody Johnson must be known as the biggest laughing stock in the group text with all the owners in the NFL
imagine how painful the interviews will be as well when that first win finally happens "see it's like we said, you just have to be patient and hold true to your beliefs" etc etc
only problem is if it isn't a QB rich draft then you're going to struggle to get much for the pick - probably better staying put and taking the best WR
I can only imagine what the attendance will be for the Panthers game. My guess is at least 20-25,000 no-shows for this one.
good news. The CB they traded for (Brownlee) and that rookie LB they drafted (Kiko something) both look like players. the bad news is long though
Indeed. Thus far they've completely shit the bed every single 2 minute drill they've had. It looks like they don't even practice that. Running multiple times in a row while out of field goal position and burning time outs was atrocious. Then fields not comprehending he has to get rid of the ball quick to stop the clock instead of taking a sack. He's supposed to be a mobile QB but he stands there like a statue. Aaron Glenn isn't even calling plays and he seems completely overwhelmed as head coach.
This whole staff seems clueless, what makes it worse is the teams that were worse than us last year have turned things around with new coaches and ours looks like a clown. Completely unprepared, predictable and frankly embarrassing. We need a coach that can coach football not another f'n cheerleader.
The Jets are like the Bermuda Triangle of success. No matter what staff shows up, they produce the same result like they are malfunctioning. Unless there is some persistent culture of poor decision making and lack of leadership that supercedes coaching and front office and quickly permeates every new staff, I don't know what else to attribute it to. It's almost supernatural how they fail so consistently.
And find your QB where? Look, I get the point about drafting being a crapshoot and quantity generally winning over quality. But at the QB position, you have to be able to get the guy you want. I would rather trade UP to get my QB than trade down. And this is why the Jets are the Jets. I mean, this is literally the Sashi Brown "analytics" / "process" Cleveland playbook. In 2016 they traded out of the #2 (Carson Wentz) pick, picked Cody Kessler in the third round, and consigned themselves to 1-15. Next draft they had "ammo" (#1 overall) but there was no "elite" QB available, so they drafted Myles Garrett (allowing Patrick Mahomes to drop to the Chiefs who traded up to get him). They then traded out of the #12 (Deshaun Watson) pick, picked Deshone Kizer in the second round, and hello 0-16. How many years do you still keep kicking down the road without a QB? And what makes you think that you can build a good team and win without a representative QB? We need to pick a QB as high as we can get them.
