They do need Jermaine Johnson and Quincy Williams. Those 2 used to wreak havoc with all the deflections and tipped balls.
Wilsons was a malcontent most of last year, and that's comical with the large number of targets he garnered. Truth is, we should have tried to retain Adams and Rogers to ride 1 more year. Not how it worked out, as always, the Jets seem to do the wrong thing. He wanted the bag and got it. Now he can lose and be happy I guess...
Good points, but in addition the running of Baker and should I add Allen, the opposition WRs seems to be in position to always help the QB, while we are the opposite.
He tried so hard not to throw the D completely under the bus but clearly not happy. To your point, it also give me the feeling AG and Wilkes might not be on the same page regarding schemes.
Week one they blew a ton of assignments. Week two they got beat in coverage. Week three I think you gotta tip your hat to Baker and friends to an extent. There were so many balls one half an arm length two far for our defensive backs to get to. I’m not a big fan of running solely man coverage schemes in the modern day. QB’s generally have 3-4 guys on the field they are comfortable throwing to in phase if they get a good matchup. And QB’s are great at identifying coverage. Josh Allen did it all day. Find the matchup you like, send them on a crosser across the field. We need to get better at either disguising or mixing up coverages. The pass rush isn’t good enough or deep enough to support the man scheme by itself. To fix the running QB issues, I hate the phrase “spy” but I’d almost like to see them rush 5 with an option backer to rush or seek out the QB. I don’t know that we’ve really blitzed much all year.
Spot on. We do seem to telegraph defensive coverages a bit . Thoughts about maybe moving Stephen’s to safety and playing the rookie at CB. At least Stephen’s can tackle. I also hear Quincy my be out for Monday.
I feel for Ball. He had an opportunity to make us forget about Quincy Williams and then he gets hurt signed some guy off the Patriots practice squad with previous NFL experience in Pittsburgh
I understand they are near the bottom, but they aren't the worst in any category. Yeah, I get it, they could definitely get worse...
