Regardless of tenure of a head coach or the time in the game, the decision to go for two has a success rate of just under 50% while the success rate of kicking the PAT is about 95% so the risk/reward is essentially equal. BUT!, that is with the two point attempt being made from the two yard line, not the one as was the case today. I have been unable to find a statistic that reveals the success rate for a penalty shortened two point conversion but the shorter distance has encouraged many coaches to avail themselves of the perceived increased risk/reward profile. It is certainly not a decision to be criticized so vehemently in a situation where a successful kick would not have offset the final scoring deficit.
ya that did not cost us the game, what cost us the game is once again team iq/ team disciple in the 4th particularly, we basically imploded once again. Can Aaron Glenn fix this or is he just another bullshitter like saleh? We are about to find out. We clearly played better than the Steelers today, this game was lost on our part because of mental errors in the 4th. Things just got a lot worse next week though because our secondary just got exposed for Josh Allen.
Hopefully the Bills exhausted themselves enough in their game just ended that they be somewhat off kilter next week. In the meantime the overall first impression of the Jets today was what I was looking for - a marked improvement over the past decade or so.
I think the Jets will play the Bills to the wire next week. They just need to execute in crunch time.
Idk I wish we weren’t playing Buffalo the week AFTER they nearly gave up 300 yards rushing they will work all week to sell out and fix their rush defense Our defense is going to need a better gameplan, you can’t blitz Allen and expect to stop him. But our safeties are not good enough to run zone. I think Buffalo rolls unfortunately
I’d feel a whole lot better about it if Jermaine Johnson wasn’t coming off of a catastrophic injury. He looked great yesterday but it’s probably not fair to expect him to be the guy he was two years ago when he chased down Josh Allen multiple times.
I'm hoping the Jet OC realizes that Braelon Allen is NOT Derrick Henry. He's big and fast, but not quite the monster DH is YET.
Its how he's being used BN. They keep running him into the pile like he's a young DH. Breece looked great attacking the edges and running pass routes. Then they NEVER use Braelon inside the 5yd line. I don't get it either but they had better wake up before they ruin the kid with all these piledriving gut runs.
I think the Bills do win but Jets will have their shot late to beat them. I hate to say it but the Bills are my pick to go to the Super Bowl finally (never picked them in the past few). I hope I am wrong but their schedule is so much easier than the Chiefs and Ravens. They also play in the AFC east. That win last night probably sealed the #1 seed for them. They are probably looking at a 7-0 start before they host Kansas City.
I thought his usage was bizarre. Tanner is trying to do too much of a Gibbs/Montgomery thing and that’s just not who Allen is.
Was a little disheartening to see Allen used sparingly, but nonetheless, the running game, was pretty good.
Even with the Steelers fans there were a noticeable amount of empty seats. Not a huge amount, but enough to draw my attention. It's what the franchise deserves after 30+years of shit performance.
This is what I was wondering too… he wasn’t able to find the holes like breece was…. And if not for breece yesterday, we’re not talking about this offensive performance that has us all hopeful .
The guy Aaron "genious" Glenn decided to give a roster spot to after he has already proved he is a useless turd and doesn't belong in the Nfl?
Fun game. Fields looked really good. Giants looked terrible. Could we make a resolution to ignore pre-season and daily training camp nonsense in the future? Go Jets!
The usage was pretty bad and it’s the one part of the offense that looked predictable. When he’s in, they’re giving him the ball and jamming it in between the A gaps. They need to clean that up and have him out there for other play types. It was my only real complaint about the offense yesterday.
