No way this guy continues to take up a roster spot and be a top 3 receiver on the depth chart not the 1st time he fumbled the ball returning a kick in a crucial spot, he is living off a glory moment 3 years ago against buffalo for petes sake! He stinks and its easy to find a better replacement!
Should have been cut last year. And then should have been cut a week ago. Massive gaffe from whoever was in on the decision to keep him.
I’m fine with this one. He’s been garbage for two years minus one punt return in his first game where he broke one tackle. Get rid of this guy. The new kickoff rules where you basically automatically get it at the 30-35 means you CANNOT fucking fumble on the return.
Yea. This guy blows. I have no problem seeing him cut.. My gf was like "Why are you yelling at him about which arm to hold the ball? " I told her. 7th grade. Literally. First practice. Coach says "Hey hold the fucking ball in the arm in the direction you're running"
Lets see how Aaron Glenn Addresses this or is he just talking out of his ass? If Gipson is fielding kickoffs next game Aaron Glenn is a moron. ‘The one thing to me that turned this game is man we can’t have turnovers, can’t do it,’ Glenn said. ‘That is something that will be addressed because you will not be on the field with this team if you’re gonna cause us to lose games if you’re gonna cause issues like that so we will get that addressed.’
It wasn't just the fumble either. On the previous KOR, he had perfect blocking and a TD opportunity with kicker to beat and tripped himself up. I said it in another thread and can't agree more with cutting him: since his first game as a rookie he's been more a liability than an asset and hasn't shown anything from a skill/ability standpoint that you can't find on any practice squad in the NFL.
yes 7 on punt returns 3 on kick returns. Someone with such a minimal role should be atleast sure hands cause he can't do jack shit else.
I think he'll be gone or at least benched. Pretty sure they had Arian Smith back there after he fumbled. I don't think Glenn will put up with BS like that. You know Saleh or Ulbrich wouldn't have pulled him.
you don't become a disciplined team by coaching undisciplined players. You become a disciplined team by replacing undisciplined players.
Yeah if it was like Quincy Williams who was undisciplined today but hustles his ass off every game I would understand giving him some slack, but Gipson is straight bumjuice and should of never been on the roster this season. If you want to make a statement to the team that this will not be tolerated you either cut him today or send him to practice squad, leaving him on the team now doesn't make any statement, he clearly sucks and should be used to make a statement atleast, he serves no purpose to be on the roster at this point.
This I think sums it up really. It's not an accident but a problem he has, which is not easy to get rid of, and he clearly hasn't done it yet. AG said he caught 145 punts in a row in practice, which is amazing, if you don't fumble them later. Pritchett outplayed him anyway on the camp, needs to be activated for the next game and Gipson waived off 53 men roster. I am sure Gipson will clear the waivers and we can still stash him on PS if we want.
From what I read about Glenn's presser, Xavier Gipson's time with the Jets is about to come to an end. Thank God Pritchard made it thru waivers and is on the PS. There was no reason to keep Gipson in the first place. Or Lazard for that matter. I don't see why we can't put Smith back there too. Time for the kid to get his uniform dirty as he can't show anything from the bench.
You can't preach accountability and then trot out a dude who cost you the game and has 10 fumbles in 3 years. I'd be highly disappointed if we see him returning kicks next week but I dont know if Glenn is going to put two rookies (Smith and Pritchett) back there.
