how about we barely lost to a better team? Yes we could have maybe should have won. You cant turn the ball over in the 4th quarter like that and expect to beat a team thats better than you.
Correction we lost a game we should off won to "maybe a better team", this game was winnable with better coaching. Guarantee bum Rodgers doesn't throw for 4 touchdowns every game the rest of the way or even remotely close meaning Aaron Glenn had a terrible defensive gameplan.
The big problem here is you don’t understand the responsibilities of a coach and a DC. Search google. I bet AI can provide a very easy and succinct answer for you
Yeah See the Jets defense, before and after Ulbrich took over as head coach, your saying Robert Saleh had nothing to do with the Jets defense being better under him?
pretty silly that you seem to have your mind made up on our head coach after 1 game since your already talking about how we should have tried something different. Give AG a chance!
Ulbrich went from running every facet of the defense to being a head coach. Of course the defense got worse when he left and it didn’t have anything to do with Saleh. again, this is just the way football works. You can find the info online if it’s something you never learned about.
I am but for all the talk he is doing(yet again another Jets coach going the same route), he better fix and fix things fast, and better not get the same amount of time as Saleh. Playoffs and playoffs soon or he can take his "swag" out the door. Almost this and almost that don't matter at this point neither does cheap talk, playoffs this year or next or onto the next rookie coach because Woody's don't know anything else.
I suppose Andy Reid is awful for allowing SD to score 27 points by your definition. Or is 30 the cut off for a great a coach. AG had this team ready to play hard and be competitive for the entire game. Not to mention we scored 32 points against a damned good defense. I guess Tomlin sucked too. Your analysis is completely superficial. Very bitter Jet fan like.
Andy Reid is a offensive genious he was never a defensive player or defensive coach in his life, All Aaron glenn supposedly knows(but I am very doubtful at this point considering what he did in Detroit and now here) is defense.
Ah so you DO understand that DCs come up with game plans. Weird that you won’t apply that knowledge here.
Glenn made some mistakes sure. 1st game though I’ll forgive. A typical rookie HC would’ve challenged that stupid lucky catch that Metcalf had after it bounced off 4 guys. I’m glad he showed restraint and didn’t challenge. Engstrand I thought was pretty creative, aside from the 2 point conversions which weren’t good calls
I don’t know…I still think AG is accountable for the poor defense today…no he’s not calling the plays that is the DC, but in the end, it all falls on the HC, and there’s nothing that says AG can’t go to Wilks and say ok enough with the soft zone bullshit…find a different way. He could have done that. So while sure the defense is on the DC (and I think Wilks has been a pretty good DC in his career), I’m not absolving AG of the responsibility because he’s the HC. In the end, it all comes down to him. As far as AG, there were things to like but also quite a few bad things…yes he had the team ready to play, and it sure looks like he has a good OC with an idea of how to call this offense with this particular QB…if that holds over the season that will be huge. But the bad things to me were the still ongoing stupid penalties…for all the tough talk through the summer about discipline and accountability, I didn’t see that on the field. It’s easy to talk the talk but much harder to walk the walk. We still had that stupid Quincy late hit 2 yards out of bounds…like come on man he’s not a rookie he should know better. We still had a few pre snap penalties. I still think the decision to go for 2 points in the first quarter is stupid. No need to take a risk there early in the game. The defensive game plan sucked balls. Should have tried just having Sauce man up on Metcalf and then give Stephens safety help on the other side but the soft zone shit will NEVER work against a good QB. So where is the accountability on Gipson for a HUGE fumble…if it were Parcells I’m guessing Gipson doesn’t see the field for a few games. So all in all, I like the offense and the energy, but Glenn clearly looked like a first time HC…now the difference will be to see if he learns and gets better…let’s hope so
neither was burning 2 timeouts, gotta give a rookie coach the benefit of the doubt the 1st game I agree with, but the demented Woody's should of never put the Jets in this position yet again, because if he is still poorly coaching 10 games in or 15 games in people here will be saying relax give him time he will learn just like they were saying with Zach Wilson and Robert Saleh. And as soon as he shows glimpses like beating a good team after losing to 5 bad ones, people will wanna give him even more time, that's the whole point of why he shouldn't have been hired in the 1st place because 1st game he showed he is incompetent but we hope he learns from his mistakes but that could mean giving him 6 years and not making the playoffs all 6 years.
It felt like Jekyll and Hyde. I thought a majority of the game was called almost perfectly. The play design was great, the flow of the play calling was great, a really good mix of letting fields do what he does best and picking up some chunk plays with his arm. But holy shit those two point conversions. We’ll never know but I really hope that second one wasn’t “throw to Garrett no matter what“ when Fields threw it to him while triple covered.
there’s a reason he keeps ignoring me every time I bring up how easy it is to research how NFL football teams are run.
I agree. it felt like Fields could’ve ran in that 2nd one. He just ran in the touchdown so he wasn’t even looking to run again I really really like the pace of the offense. So happy to be done with that slow plodding thing from yesteryear
