Teams had until noon to put in waiver claims no matter when they were waived and news will trickle out starting now. Players who were released can be signed any time.
Yep, looks like for cutdown day the rules are slightly different: 12PM Today put waiver wire claim 1PM: NFL processes all claims. So, we should hear something concrete any time after 1pm.
We claimed TE Jelani Woods. Massive dude. Bad blocker. Raw pass catcher. I like it. also an LB and OL from the Chiefs JBC claimed by the Browns
Agree with your view in principle but calling them scrubs is a bit too harsh. They showed quite a bit of talent and potential to develop for the future. Our core WR group is very shaky and in real need of improvement for the current WR 2-3 positions. Lazar and company are very short term plug ins so having more young talent in the trenches is a must. I hope thru waivers and PS we continue to develop future bench strength. Smith and company showed to me more flashes as pure Wars than Gibson for starters but may be not as immediate special team contributors.
Eh way too early for that. He was smart enough to draft Nix last year for Denver and he didn’t even need to move draft picks. As per par Moogey really can’t be judged until we see who he drafts next year for QB and how that pans out …
So far he is already way ahead of Douglas, both in draft picks and free agency, contract negotiations and trades. It took Douglas four years to draft a decent LT.
I agree our WR room is among the worst in the league, and I am also surprised that guys like Brandon Smith were waived while Gipson made the team, but it also feels like we do this every year at this time…there is a bunch of back and forth about those last few guys who get cut, and most of the time none of it matters at all…they are all bottom of the roster guys for a reason…they are not that good. So keeping one over another is not typically a huge difference…maybe they like Gipson on special teams, maybe they feel like they can bring the other guys back to the practice squad, who knows? Since it doesn’t sound like any of our cuts got picked up other than the CB by the Browns, looks like we’ll be able to bring them back if we want them.
Yep I can agree. Douglas did a few good things but with the bar being so low it would of been hard to do any worse in his position. Idzik and Macgannan don’t belong anywhere near an NFL front office in my opinion - I can see Douglas in a front office but definitely not in charge of it …
