Right, it's almost as if we traded Nnadi for Briggs, which is a very good deal for us. Mooge used the fact Chiefs are familiar with this guy, but he really sucked in camp according to everyone. I doubt he was going to make a roster even before the trades we made. Usually you try to trade with a team that is strong at your position of need, so even the bottom guy is decent. Chiefs traded with us, who are extremely weak at DT. Well done by Mooge to use their familiarity with Nnadi.

The biggest difference though between the trades we made and this one is word "conditional". I am not sure what the condition is. Maybe he has to play certain amount, etc... So it is possible we are getting nothing for him. Still instead of definitely getting nothing by cutting him, we might end up with upgraded late round pick. Or nothing, which means no harm no foul.

I get that Ruckert WANTS to be physical. But he played like shit in preseason and reports of practices confirm the same. Maybe he survives original cuts, but there has to be a better TE we can claim off waiver wire or trade via late pick swap than Ruckert prior to the start of the season.

That's your outlook. The professional reporter who has been around for years and no doubt saw more of the practices appears to differ in his.

Some times is harder to understand why players are retained because we are not aware as to how exactly they will be used and pre season did not show nor was an indicator of intended usage. While he did not look good in preseason, if his role is sixth OL to help Membou with limited TE usage I can see why they might keep him.

We all know Tom Rock of Newsday is the best reporter in America on football and most importantly run blocking tight ends.

I guess I've focused mostly on the blocks he didn't make but I somehow missed Ruckert turning into Anthony Becht?

Is there no doubt he was at all or most of these practices? Have you seen any tweets or articles from him reporting on these practices like others people who watched and were posting throughout the camp? I wouldn't be surprised that not only he hasn't been attending these practices regularly or at all, but hasn't even read the daily reports of people who were there. I have only seen bad reports on Ruckert from everyone who watched unfortunately.

Are you really questioning Tom Rock of Newsday, dude? Shame on you. He’s been covering sports since before you were born, son.

Just saw that Martinez was cut. Figured that was gonna happen. With Tyrod's health history, Not sure they're gonna stay with Cook as the #3.

I'm in agreement here. McGregor has looked alright, a couple years in a row now, I can see his role expanding.

Predicting the first 48 is easy. The rest is a guess. Plenty of time to fill out the roster and make some swaps. They must know there is no market for Martinez. They will bring him back for practice likely.

Did you read the article? Is there something in it that you have a problem with?

If you want a run-heavy offense you need a TE that can block, and Stone Smartt despite having a cool name, isn’t that guy. There is room for a stout blocker at the position

i think Ruckert makes it, unless they swap him out with waiver pickup from another team.

Maybe Stephen Carlson from the Bears? He’s a veteran blocker and might be out from a numbers game at the position

I also wouldn’t be surprised if they scoop up Kyle McCord from the Eagles as a waiver pickup

My thing with Ruckert is that he also isn’t a good blocker. Guy whiffs on assignments very regularly. If I’m choosing between him and another guy who isn’t a strong blocker but is athletic and has good hands, I’m going with the hands and hoping we can pick up someone on waivers to block.

Also if Buffalo cuts this wide receiver Tyrell Shavers I hope we claim him immediately. The kid is 6’5 and makes plays.

I feel the same way about Tinsley from Cincinnati but I don’t think there’s any way he gets cut.

Shavers might, and he’s instantly better than anyone we have at WR4 or5.

Yeah, once again Ruckert sucks as a blocker (and as a receiver too). I want Mooge to get someone better off the waiver wire/late pick swap.

Ruckert has been trash since day one. Nothing about him as a player adds any value when he steps on the field. He’s just not very good. It’s nice he’s from Rutgers and his fam grew up Jets fans, but he’s a liability to the team as a player. I would keep Beck over him. Even though Beck isn’t a TE he could at least block like one as a FB/hybrid player. Beck adds alot more value to the team.
