Good display against the Packers followed by a bad display against the Giants. We finish preseason against the Eagles at Metlife. Let's see which Jets will show up.
I suspect starters will play some still but not much. This game will be used to show case and down select the final 8-10 in the 53.
Starters will sit this one out. No @GreenFan15J tailgate. I am debating if I should even go to this game. For those of you who don't know me, I love Metlife, I love tailgating, I love pre-season. Weekend night, family environment. No rain, 79 degrees. Okay okay I am going.
Did Glenn already announce that the starters are going to be out? If so that’s a massive mistake. Our starting offense couldn’t resemble anything that looked like a competent starting NFL offense and we are going to say hey take this one off?
He said many of the starters will not play, but no specific names. I’m guessing Sauce, Q, Hall and Allen and even JJ for sure. I’m hoping the O with JF takes a few snaps with the WRs and TEs.
If this was regular season it would be a big mistake. Preseason, not really anything wrong. A few guys here have decided for themselves that no starters are playing - I guess we'll have to wait a few hours to find out - the Eagles will too.
I’m fine resting vets on established teams. We have a bad QB who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn last week playing in a new offense with new receivers. Very dumb if we don’t give them another series at minimum against actual competition.
I'm just not confident in an already questionable offense playing its first real game together happening at the start of the real season. Experience and repetition is what this offense needs, not more time off. They only have a hazy idea as to what actually works. QB questionable, WR room thin, OC first timer. This just could start to look like a slow motion trainwreck really quick... Lets hope this first game isn't a trend setter if it goes south.
I don't think there's a team in the league that has played their starters for a full game in the preseason this century so looking for that "first real game together" is always going to happen in the regular season. The QB's relationship to his receivers has been established repetitively on the practice field. The work I see needed is to have the QB, not wearing a red shirt and with people coming at him who aren't going to pull up, working at hitting any receiver. That's why I want to see Fields throw the ball 10-12 times regardless of who his target is. We all can tell a dropped pass from one that's not catchable - let's put Fields and the mid and bottom pass catchers to the test one more time. And let the OC call plays that will show everyone what we want to see when that's much more important than winning a summer game.
I'll be getting the Philly feed on this game out here. I'll be looking at the RB's and WR's mostly. I am curious about the bubble guys on the DL too. Particularly Clemons...
Looking forward to see Brady Cook and Adrien Martinez. Looks like Fields is who we thought he is. Let's see if Brady or Adrien will look decent or not.
Malachi Moore is a player why is Gibson not playing? He should be cut but anyone not playing in this game is basically safe. A little bit alarming. Especially when the guy who should be taking his place just bobbled the punt return.
Listening on the radio… Did Arian Smith just drop another ball? All they said was it went through his hands.
