Yeah, they were. I rewatched that 4th down play. Nevertheless, I don't consider Allen a backup. I think everyone in the multiverse knew what the play was going to be once they lined up.

Yeah “finally” was alluding to seeing the OL actually produce or show the fruits of the labor. Yes JD did acquire most of the talent but it took way too long and not soon enough to save his job.

QB is another story …. Hopefully DM hits it right this coming draft. The good news is he seems to have gotten Bo Nix right … May bode well.

Lots of QB talent coming out this year especially if Arch & Sellers come out. I've got a futures bet on Sellers winning the Heisman this year. Kid is gonna take SC to another level in 2025 even with that brutal SEC schedule.

You have to factor in we had an incompetent OLC and OC which worked against everything JD tried to build. You can have the best materials but if you build it wrong, its still garbage. Your buddy AR didn't help things changing the play at the LOS either. The OL never stood a chance under the prior regime.

last week both lines dominated..a win. this week both lines outplayed, a loss. ok, defensive line missing some big guys, so they get a pass. Oline looked ok on the run but really poor on pass protection. so, they will need to improve quite a bit next week. doesn't matter who their opponent is, all teams have stars on their defensive line, and the jets need to stop or limit them.

now we have no way of knowing if the jets offensive staff {and of course defensive staff} will be any good. they have no track record of success in any of their current positions. hopefully they can coach improvement. hopefully. Personally, i expect the first third of the season to be pretty hard as EVERYONE is new and it takes time to figure things out. The middle third should show us if the lines can be dominant when needed. The last third will be the proof of the pudding. Can these line on both sides of the ball deliver big wins down the stretch.
hard to separate QB play from Oline play. I mean a poor QB will be hard pressed to do well even behind a quality line. but there is no hope if the guys up front are not upper tier.
So 2 preseason games in the books leaving work to be done.
