Congratulations to Alonso. He'll probably extend the team record to between 260 and 265, but then might very well be on his way. Meanwhile, the Clay Holmes experiment seems to be ending - he can't get past 60 or so pitches without completely falling apart. It usually happens in the 5th or 6th inning, but now he's so bad it happens in the 4th.
Alvarez with his second, and then Baty follows with one. Six home runs for the team, 13 runs, all with 2 outs.
Peterson the one starter that actually gave them length can’t get out of the 4th inning. No lead is safe with these starters.
Well, apparently Stearns has figured out that his starting pitcher strategy of throwing crap against the wall and seeing what sticks is failing. https://www.mlb.com/news/nolan-mclean-mets-callup
God, this team just sucks - the starters are awful, and these great rent-a-relievers they signed at the trade deadline have mostly been crap as well. At this point in the game the top four hitters are 5/10, and the bottom five are 0/13. Everything that was wrong with the team in June is still wrong in August.
I honestly don't even think this is a wildcard team any more. No lead is safe. My friend was trying to get tickets to one of these 3 ATL games and I'm more than happy we didn't go. Might have been fun to go to the Alonso record game, but the pitching has been atrocious.
