Pete Alonso with basically the biggest hit of the game. Gotta love it.

Not exactly tearing the cover off the ball, but they're winning.

Soto's going to need to start getting these hits with men on base if theyre going anywhere longterm....

Not getting the Vientos for Luis Robert Jr chatter. He’s always hurt. His batting average is hardly an upgrade. Terrible plate discipline. Lots of strikes no walks. Granted can’t say I’m watching white Sox games but going off the numbers he sucks! Not worth giving a legit prospect for. Am I missing something?

The Mets have just added Cedric Mullins, giving up three prospects.

Meh. Another expiring contract, so I hope Stearns is right that giving up all of these prospects for 2+ month rentals isn't going to lead to regrets in the future. Mullins has had one good year with the bat (2021, with an .878 OPS), and has otherwise been the definition of mediocre (OPS+ values of 107, 101, 104, and 105). He's a very good fielder, and steals bases, so the mediocre hitting is a clear upgrade from what they're currently getting with Taylor, but he's a clear downgrade from what they've been getting from McNeil at the plate this year.

None of this matters if Lindor, Soto, and Alonso aren't at least at their career average performances the rest of the way. The team ultimately goes as they go.
