Common sense Brook! Especially in a situation where there's no real experience in-house with the new system, new CS and new players in critical positions. They have to learn how to play as a team instead of a One or Two man band with 9 spectators. Only one way that happens. Now down the road, MAYBE Glenn can ease up but not now.
Why? This team is S-O-F-T. Has been for decades. Hell, in my opinion, MOST of these players are soft. I wouldn't give but a handful would have survived in the 70's or 80's on most teams. Another point, while I'm thinking about it. MOST of the reason they whine about injuries is because they literally load up 15 or 20% of the entire budget one one or two/three players. Maybe, just maybe they might adjust their thinking to a more balanced approach so that when an injury DOES happen there is a more balanced level of talent across the board AND they have some $$ to go and bring in help if needed. Look, I'm all for guys getting paid. But this isn't basketball or baseball where ONE or TWO people can literally win/lose games for you. You MUST HAVE 24 people to win a football game! At a minimum. People always forget the kicking game. So, if it takes 24 people to win a game why is it that 3 people make ALL the money? Just musing.
Glenn announced starters will play vs GB. Absolutely the correct move. The passing offense has been a trainwreck in camp, there's no way you can walk into week 1 without these guys seeing live action first.
No starters in the final preseason game Friday I don’t like that. The team was dominated and terrible against the Giants, Glenn shoulda made them play this game
Actually, I am cool with that. It is the last pre-season game. Let the fringe players showcase what they can do. Totally OK with this.
Mixed feelings here. They got their asses kicked in Gm 2 so its obvious they're a work in progress. If they don't play the starters, that means Gm 1 in the regular season will be played by a Jets team with no game experience playing with each other. Guaranteed loss IMO. Lets hope game one doesn't set the tone for the year because if it does? We're a lock to be drafting a blue chip QB in '26.
many fringe players take the field with the first team. But the biggest thing it just would’ve sent a message that they need to perform better after that giants game. Missed opportunity IMO
I agree. It's hard to really know how prepared the starters are from an outsiders perspective. So far Glenn doesn't seem like a softy so I have to trust him or at least give the benefit of the doubt. Regarding getting their asses kicked by the Giants, while I do think the Giants are improved, they darn well should roll over opponents in the preseason having all those experienced QB's playing. We had Martinez and Cook after Field's lone series. Wish I saw more of him actually.
Yeah agreed…on another note, I have been pretty impressed with how Dart has looked in two games now…and sure, he’s going against second and third teams mostly, in vanilla preseason games, but given that, he has looked very good, which is how you would expect a good player to look going against backups. I was skeptical on him in the draft and was a bit surprised by the Giants trading back into the first round to take him, and of course who knows how he will turn out in the long run, but man, so far, what little I’ve seen has been pretty impressive…if they bring him along the right way (and Daboll I think knows a thing or two about developing raw QBs), they may have their next QB ready to go
Have to be honest here. Personally, I would have started the ENTIRE 1st team, on both sides of the ball, for the entirety of the 1st quarter. Nothing I've seen tells me these people are ready for the Squeelers. My guess is, just because it's the Jets, Rodgers will dice the team and it will be a blowout.
I want to see Fields run a dozen plays, at least half of them passes. I don't care who he's throwing to, I want to see him read the field and get some decent throws off. Doesn't matter to me if they bounce off the heads or hands of some scrubs as long as they're not in the dirt or the sky.
The media would have a field day and Rodgers gets his revenge. All at our expense. Have to agree. The starters hardly played enough together this preseason season. Maybe they should go back to a 4 gm preseason instead of 3 which isn't enough time to jell for newly constituted rosters.
Actually, the media would have a field day if the Jets beat the Steelers. The team with twice as many wins last year fielding a future Hall of Fame quarterback led by a successful long term coach would need an act of the NFL gods to succumb to a team with an entirely new staff and a knockaround quarterback. In fact, the spread of only three points must be based more on emotion than reality.
