This is still missing the point. You’re pretending this is about the fourth round. It’s about everything that’s happened from the first week of March until this very moment. It’s been piss poor asset and roster management.

I mean that just goes to show how wrong you are. The Jets have had terrible drafts for a long time

I think its silly to be over excited or upset over the draft. A high percentage of the people that get paid alot of money to do this end up getting it wrong so how could any of us think we know better? I save my dissapointment for the season and i almost always get a boatload of it.

This is the part that really has me bothered the most I think in the draft. This draft was LOADED with DT talent. LOADED.

We missed on it, when it was not only a need, but a strength in the draft.

I'm not sure how we stop the run without, ya know, fixing the leak. I guess scheme can do some of that but I just don't see it with the DT we have right now.

Mel Kiper who keeps going on and on about how great Sanders is had this to say in 2001 final mock draft

Zach Wilson's Pro Day was mesmerizing, as was Ohio State signal caller Justin Fields. Either option would be solid here for the Jets.

Who know we would end up with both lol.

You can break it down to reasonable concerns though. I like the CB we took in the 3rd round, however, was that really the best resource there with the talent that was still there? It's questionable as a fan.

We still don't have a DT, we still will likely have some serious issues against the run. Our WR room still looks kinda jank.

You can't do it all in one draft. I get that. I just wonder what the thought process was with some of the picks, especially in the later rounds so far, with that talent that was there and could've been taken instead. Time will tell.

100% we can question it as I do. I mean a WR who has issues catching the ball? Was there not a better option? We will see.

Did we completely miss, or perhaps a few decent ones out there we can grab with the next pick?

I will rephrase: It's been a long time I have been this disappointed about a Jets draft IMMEDIATELY on draft day.

no we completely missed. And this is what I’ve been trying to say but you keep missing the point. We’ve spent multiple draft picks between making selections and trading up for defensive depth players when there are potential starters available at massive positions of need. What you are doing is basically saying “well last I checked we still have the draft“ every time I would say our receiver room was in trouble after free agency.

What you’re doing is basically saying hey you never know it can work out great when almost every sign points to us whiffing and incurring self-inflicted wounds.

As far as D-Line goes I think Buffalo screwed us by getting the spot right before and selecting d-line with it… twice

there will be some big fattys you can bring in as free agents before camp tho

IMO the draft has been ok except the WR was a head scratcher

Nothing. We foolishly took him with our own fourth round pick instead of our own sixth round pick. We traded up for the safety was actually very good and could easily be a day one starter.

Is very easy to explain. We needed Strong safety, someone that can play in the box. We do not have one.Period end of story. The speculations of a CB moving to safety is here say BS.
It’s simply your opinion we spend $12M on a bad CB and the CS is well aware that his weakness is not turning his head as the ball arrives, but he proved to be quite good in zone coverage. Nothing more. You have zero idea what secondary schemes we plan to implement this year. Yes, I don’t know a damned thing about this CB pick and nor do you. But there is some smoke about the drop rate as it relates to QB contribution or lack thereof so we will have to wait and see. IMO the safety pick is a damned good one.

We didnt trade up for him we traded up for a safety

Trade compensation: The Jets traded 145 and 207 for 130, where they selected S Malachi Moore

Who was the DT you wanted to take we missed on? At what spot would you do it and whom?

it’s always insane on draft day here

you got people menstruating over 4th/5th round picks. “We need this we need that” it’s like we’d be lucky if they even play anyway, those rounds aren’t for need

Then why did we draft a back-up CB at the top of the 3d round? If it is BS, then I would have to agree with the folks here who are saying we completely misallocated resources.

It’s also not just about DT. Every time you respond you try to make it something super specific no matter how many times I’m telling you it’s a big picture issue dating back to free agency. Which DT I’d have rather had than a terrible WR, or what WR I wanted instead of a depth CB in the third round really doesn’t matter because my preference is that we weren’t in those situations to begin with. There were ways for that to happen.
