So a scout, who’s job is literally to scout and evaluate players, says Shadeur is worth a late round pick if his name wasn’t Sanders. So are you saying it’s cruel that it looks like he’ll be drafted based on his skills and not his name?
Cleveland just selected him. I'm heartbroken. Screw you, Jets! **** even traded back up to select another db to torture me. This new regime hasn't made a good first impression on me. Deep down I felt I would end up heartbroken again but hoped for a different ending.
He was a second team All American, 4th in passing yards, 2nd in passing touchdowns. It’s nonsensical to say the kid can’t play the sport or his skills don’t translate. He is plenty talented to play in this league.
Thankfully this didn't happen. Need to give Justin Fields a shot at becoming the franchise QB. Sanders would've been a major distraction to that and everything else from Day 1.
There’s plenty of talent to get in the league. He lacks the physical talent to dominate in the league.
While I wouldn’t say that, I would agree that he at least measures up to most of the QBs already selected
Who cares where he went? Tom Brady was a sixth round pick. What matters is how he plays in the NFL. We all know what just happened. He was projected by many many people to be drafted in the top 10, first round of this draft the Jets had a golden opportunity to steal this guy in the middle rounds. I'll dare to say that the QB position is much more mental and accuracy than pure talent to "dominate" physically. By most accounts this dude has it where it counts. Accurate, smart, tough and he's been preparing for this all his life. His father is one of the NFL's alltime greatest players. So he's not coming in to the NFL awestruck or not knowing what to expect. I'm sad. I'd like to see the Jets get it right for once.
Before you lambaste the Jets, there were 31 other teams that passed on him over 4+ rounds. If any one of them thought that his perceived talent could win games for them, they would have overlooked the ancillary issues and grabbed him. Obviously this wasn’t the case. As usual only time will tell, but I can’t see blasting the Jets for not taking him
Am I sold on Sanders one way or the other - no. That being said this is a kid with great pedigree, great stats, and a kid that was viewed as a possible #1 overall pick and an almost surefire top 5 pick for much of the pre-draft process. Really, we couldnt find a way to take a chance in the f'n 4th round ???? As far as I am concerned this is management malfeasance. All I got to say is Jordan Travis better turn out to be a franchise QB assuming he ever even gets healthy enough to take the field.
We'll see how this works out, but from what I've seen Sanders has nothing on Teddy Bridgewater. Roughly same size, arm and even athleticism. Sanders also had the best WR in college which totally skews the stats he put up and when you watch his tape, he sits back there in the pocket for 5 seconds which is never happening in the NFL. Then you got his attitude - the team that drafts me is going to need to "tailor their offense after what I want to do or I don't want to play for them"... "if they are not about changing their culture, I don't want to play for them". Huge ego and very entitled. I watched interviews and I was getting annoyed by his attitude, instead of answering the questions, he's challenging the interviewer with his own questions... super grating. Even Cam Ward said, he was approached by Sanders who talked shit and tried to create a beef between them... Ward is legit - I got no time for that and it's not what I'm about. so there's a lot to it and reason he slipped. I wish him well, but wanted no part of him on the Jets.
So the Browns who took Manziel and who have been just as bad as us forever took Sanders that is all you need to know. The stink will always be the stink.
From what I’ve read it’s lots of short passes and a ton of yac. He also went 1-7 in big games apparently. Add in the circus and (whether I’ve personally seen him play or not) he sounds like a big risk.
Can you provide a link to where it says he tried to talk shit to Cam Ward? This is what Ward said about him..
The first sentence I don’t really know where that was written. He made a ton of high completion passes on schedule and a lot of big plays off schedule. He was knocked a ton for the off schedule plays because they were somewhat unnecessary at times (I.e. ignoring easy completions to run out of a clean pocket looking for a big plays off schedule). #2 - yeah I mean Deion recruited a record number of transfers because the program was absolutely dog shit. They had very limited depth. Shedeur’s not blameless but shouldn’t be completely blamed. He was terrible against Nebraska. He was great against Kansas yet look at the result - a multi-touchdown blowout. #3 - agreed. The circus made teams run the other way.
sorry, let me strike my comment from the record... It was an old clip and 100% was said by Ward (he also said Travis Hunter was verbal too).. but when I went to go find, I totally see that they are friends now... so whatever it was, it's not the case now so it's irrelevant.
You're saying you believe it was a conspiracy? Or are you saying that each team individually kind of wanted him, but preferred to be mean and not pick him? I mean, what you are suggesting exactly?
