They could use him any which way …. He’ll probably start the season opposite Sauce. Hopefully the FSU kid is starting by the end of the season …. It means good scouting if he is.
We absolutely have one of the best OT young combo in the league, for the next 20 years,, and arguably one of the strongest OL in the league adding Tippmann and Vera. One hell of a way to build an offense for a running friendly QB. I’m thrilled about that, and the systematic way this leadership go about building this team. Half this fan base would have been pissed if we picked Campbell over Membou, and now praising NE for doing so? I’m thankful they did. It was best for our needs.
And if the Jets do draft a QB it’s not going to be Sanders. This new regime has a lot of work to do including changing the culture. They don’t need the side clown show bringing in Sanders would do.
Very valid but my issue is with asset allocation not the player himself. Did the Raiders already have an elite pass rusher that is about to make top tier money and did they also spend starter money on another pass rusher in free agency while ignoring a glaring need elsewhere? Thats the context that has me baffled.
I am not sure. Pretty much everyone was saying he was slow based on tape and he SKIPPED the 40 at the combine, and was slow on Pro Day , where you basically add a a tenth of a second, since they always have favorable measurements. I have a feeling between Stephens and Thomas one will be starting corner and the other safety.
Exactly. After round 2 you don't even consider needs fir the pick. Just pick the best player you think is available
I listened to Joe Benigno on the drive home from work I'm listening to him now from home. Spot on everything he's saying. He played a clip of Sean Payton talking about how shocking his fall is and saying beware Shedeur will play in this league he'll have a chip on his shoulder. PLEASE PLEEEAAASE DRAFT SHEDEUR SANDERS, NEW YORK JETS!!! OMG we need a QB. This could be the second best draft pick the Jets have ever made (after Namath) and the best value pick they'll ever make who knows? Shedeur could be the one. I can watch today. I'll be watching I''m praying the Jets surprise me and make me very happy. What a depressing organization.
Agreeing with Joe Benigno is not something I’d admit to. Bottom line is a slide like this is happening for a reason. Some of it is absolutely football related too but we know what it’s mostly based on. If you think it’s a good idea to bring in a guy who comes with a traveling circus to be our third string quarterback for a rebuilding team undergoing a culture change in the media capitol of the world… then you probably also thought it was a good idea to trade for Tim Tebow. I can’t find the link to it now but Tom Pelissero of NFL network did a whole segment this morning on why this slide is happening. Some of the details outlined make it all very understandable. Assuming that even half of what he reported is true, it makes Sanders the anti-Aaron Glenn. Hes been passed on for multiple other QBs by multiple teams that need a QB. At some point it isn’t a mistake anymore.
Joe B is a die hard Jets fan. I've been listening to him since he worked overnights. I don't always agree with him but he's spot on. At this point what have the Jets got to lose? Whhat circus? At this point? He'd be a fourth round pick. Dude is going to work his way up just like every other player. He wouldn't be coming in with that type of draft status and I'm telling you right now if the jets take him in round 4 I'll feel like we won the NFL Draft Lttery #1 overall.
Are you seriously asking what circus Sanders brings with him? It’s unbelievably naïve to think that a guy who was dominating draft coverage since the day he declared then dropped to day three is going to be a third string quarterback without his loudmouth dad causing a stink. And beyond that, every report coming out about how Sanders interviewed poorly and flat out ignored some packages the Giants asked him to look at (then got mad when he was called out on it) makes a lot of this makes sense. Again… 32 NFL teams are unbelievably wary of it to the point where we are watching one of the biggest slides ever. You think that everyone is wrong and it’s just going to be perfectly fine? That’s not a risk if NFL teams are willing to take, it’s definitely not one I want to take and we aren’t in a position to be taking it considering we need a culture overhaul.
The only thing that should matter is how Shedeur will PLAY at the NFL level. He plays the most important position in the sport. If he doesn't play well who cares what his dad says? If he plays well then we're set. Joe B. said he'd be delirious if the Jets draft Shedeur. He's on the air until 1 pm. I'm still listening. If the Jets shock us all and show some balls for a change his live on the air reaction should be memorable. I'm anxious, nervous watching. That someone will trade up to draft Shedeur, some team ahead of us will draft him, the Jets pick pass him up again. I'm prepared to have my heart broken but hopeful for something positive to happen.
At this point you could draft him, tell him that if any circus comes to town you're cutting him on the spot, and follow through on that threat if necessary.
again, it’s not a coincidence that 32 other teams can recognize the character concerns and all of the outside noise that comes along with him. To act like it’s ridiculous is… Ridiculous.
So then you pissed away a fourth rounder. I’d rather piss away a fourth rounder on a guy that won’t cause a stir every time he farts.
So far I would say we did get 3 guys who are projected to be the starters at RT, TE, S (either Thomas himself will be safety a la Brian Branch or Stephens will move there). If they can all play these roles next year, which I do think they can, then so far so good, though I would prefer a WR in the 3d round. Let's see what's next... We have one more premiumish pick to go at 110, then total dart throws from that point on...
