Well, maybe a TE will work out where WR’s never do.

We do have a pretty good track history there too with the immortal Jace Amaro.

    I read he's Jason Taylor's kid.

    I like J.T.

He played well for the Jets back in 2010 and he was a great player for the Dolphins.

To be fair we don’t have a good track record of drafting tight ends anywhere. Not in the last few decades at least.

Really really wanted Higgins in the second round but with that not being an option, Taylor was my next choice. Big body, fantastic route runner and more than anything has a great head on his shoulders with a pedigree to match… As much as I hate Jason Taylor. A big, sure-handed, consistent route running TE makes a young QBs job a WHOLE lot easier.

It's interesting that we could have had Warren and Ersery as @NJJets was suggesting, but we ended up with Membou and Taylor at the same positions but reversed. The glaring difference I see in these combos is that Membou and Taylor are 21 whereas Warren and Ersery are 23. I do like both combos to be honest, but hopefully that means higher ceiling for our guys. It is also very Mason is able to start and produce at young age this year.

To be honest, we shoulda drafted his Auntie instead of him....The guy I wanted was Fanin Jr

I would still take Taylor. Fannin is small, and we REALLY need a TE who can block. Also while numbers are good, it was against bad competition. And Taylor is way more athletic too per RAS. He was the right pick at TE. He was the 3d best one in the group.

So now Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas have to cheer for the JETS... so at least there's that...

For me it's difficult to envision Jason Taylor's kid being a complete bust.

He may not be as good a NFL player as his dad was but useless? I can't imagine it.

IF he turns out to be anywhere near as good a NFL player as his dad was the Jets hit a grand slam with that pick.

To be fair, most teams don't have a great track record for drafting TEs. Of the hundreds drafted, I can name about 4 ;)
