I came across this cast photo from the first Cannonball Run (1981) movie earlier today on Reddit. I had forgotten that Joe Klecko was in the movie. I know Terry Bradshaw was in it too (his teammate was the guy in the cowboy hat in the center back). I wonder how Klecko wound up in the film.
It’s a pretty crummy movie but for some reason my best friend and I absolutely loved it. We watched it over and over again and we still have little catch phrases from the film that we use. If a pretty woman walks by, there’s a decent chance one of us will say ‘Next time, Methodist!’
OMG! Loved this movie! Only Dean Martin and ONLY in that era could he get away with referring to Sammy Davis as "the chocolate monk." Those two ripped on each other something terrible...as only long time friends can! lol Jackie Chan flying by in the "technical wonder car." Wow...brings back memories.
I watched it this morning for the first time in decades and there was so much funny stuff I had forgotten about. I love how Roger Moore is playing a guy with mental illness who believes he's Roger Moore, the James Bond actor ... and everytime you see him throughout the movie, he's with a completely different "Bond" girl and there's never any explanation. Netflix could honestly crank one of these movies out every five years with whatever Hollywood B-listers they could find and the budgets would be almost nothing and they would attract a lot of viewers.
Hard to believe there was actually a real life Cannonball Run. I think they stopped them back in the 90's. EDIT: The last official Cannonball Run was in 1979
Just watched this a few days ago after seeing this as a kid. I had no idea who Joe Klecko was back then. Cheered when I spotted hom
