I am guessing the floor is 5 with the ceiling being 8 or 9. No playoffs again. At least they aren't being hyped up as the defending offseason champions like they were these past 2 years.
despite what that miserable turd Woody wants us to believe to sell those big fat tickets, this is going to be another rebuild year and no playoffs, I don't get why they are not trading Breece hall and maybe Sauce to stock up on draft picks.
I went with the over. I like what I've heard from Glenn so far. I feel weirdly positive that they can build something, starting with the OL. And you know I've been the darkest of darksiders for several years running now, so that's saying something.
We won 5 games with atleast 5 future hall of famers on this team, imagine how many we are going to win without them? Only jets can put themselves in cap hell for the next 2 years, get a bunch of 1 year rental future hall of famers and mortgage to the tee and win 5 games.
I agree with this. It's not a "tank" in the classic sense as the team legitimately is starting over almost from scratch at the most important parts. QB, HC, CS, GM. '26 supposedly has the better QB talent so why not draft either a RT or TE and get things setup for '26. Fields knows this is possibly his last chance at being a starter so if he's halfway decent, some team will pick him up once his 2yr deal is over here. In the meantime, our OC gets a year under his belt to learn what works and what doesn't. Likewise with our DC and HC. The worst thing the Jets can do is go "all in" without the foundation to actually make a run at the VLT.
I could certainly learn to love this scenario! I'd say 2-3 wins secures the top spot this year. Having said that, I must don my darksider cap once again and state that the Jets will almost certainly fuck this up because it's what they do. The ONLY scenario, in my mind, that banishes the all mighty quest for the top pick in the 2026 draft is Justin Fields finally "gets it" and has a year that puts the Jets DEEP in the playoffs. Anything else better see this team getting as close to the top pick as possible. My "Darksider" cap tells me the Jets will land between picks 10 and 15, thus thoroughly removing them from ALL the potential top QB's. <sigh>
In my opinion, the Jets should focus on offense in the 1st 3 rounds of this draft. Fill the following spots: right tackle, wide receiver, tight end. See what Justin Fields can do with talent on offense. Sign more free agents to fill in holes for defense. Next year draft more for defense.
I've learned, I voted the under. I have been an optimist long enough, something broke in me last year. This is the least emotionally invested in this team I have been in decades.
Seeing as we do not have someone like Shanahan, O'Connell or Peyton coaching the QB's, I'm telling you, if the NY Jets draft Sanders, he will be out of the league, guaranteed, before that 5th year option kicks in. You can write that down. There are decades of history behind this team and their inability to draft, mentor and foster a rookie QB. Period. Whether it be a combination of "bad karma" in that building, shitty overbearing coverage from the NY Press or the shitty overbearing and impatient fans, rookie QB's come to the NY Jets to have their careers either completely derailed or ended prematurely. It's the RARE Jets drafted QB that actually goes on to amount to more than a hill o' beans in the NFL. You can count them on ONE hand minus 2 fingers, and I don't lump Sanders in as more physically talented as either Geno Smith OR Sam Darnold. To be even further frank, if you factor in NEXT year, the ONLY kid who "might" be able to overcome that would be Manning and that's ONLY because he has his own QB coaching in his family. Until someone does it, in NY Jets clothing, I'll continue to believe the team incapable of doing Jack, or his good buddy Shit, with a young, newly drafted QB.
"Karma" is laughable for highly paid professionals; blaming fans and the press is just plain lame - dealing with fans and media is part of the job. PERIOD! How about these guys and their coaches look in the mirror and accept the responsibility for their own performance and people stop making excuses for them not being prepared or professional? Maybe the locker room needs a couple of Harry Truman quotes up on the walls.
I don't care what you call it or how you rationalize it. As you can tell, I'm pulling whatever out my ass to try and understand HOW this organization has NEVER been able to materialize ONE drafted QB that lasted more than a couple years. Do you have any ideas? I sure don't. Figured I'd go alternative "medicine" with Karma.
