Listen.. I'm going through my usual yearly breakdowns of upcoming prospects heading into the draft... I admit, this position group I've kept pushing back to do because I think as a NYJ fan, DT might be the most hated on position for obvious reasons due to recent history. I get it. I feel it. However.. This position group is absolutely insane, it's just stud, after stud, after stud.... It's actually blowing my mind at this point. I, as several of you know, am a big OSU fan. I already knew that Tyleik Williams from OSU was a good player. So when I start looking at a lot of rankings from other people online, I start getting confused on WHY is this guy so far back on the board. I literally thought people were just being dumb... Then I start watching some of these guys, and I swear, I think they all have really really good traits to their game. I can't fathom this class right now, to the point, I'm making this thread. It's wild... For those that haven't checked out some of these names, please, go do so. If you have a different opinion, I'd love to hear it because this position group is nuts. Mason Graham, DT, Michigan - Everyone knows about this kid, not a surprise but do you know about his teammate? Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan - This guy is arguably just as good, better even at certain aspects of his game. I actually was watching tape of Graham, but I was constantly asking myself, who is this Grant kid? A stud. I'm tellin ya. Walter Nolen, Ole Miss, DT - This kid does not go backwards, always going forward, always getting value. I do question his football IQ a little. A stud. Derrick Harmon, Oregon, DT - This kid is smooth, strong, and might have the best technique at of all of them. I see potential versatility with this kid as well. Inside/outside player. Omarr Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee - An absolute bully, who is very strong, and deliberate with his play. Extremely disruptive, way more than not. I really loved watching this kid play, holy moly.. Wild. Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky - An actual wall, he is a run stuffing DT with a good set of hand skill techniques to rotate between for penetration, especially against the run. Different than the other prospects but still maintains value with his game. Darius Alexander, Toledo, DT - This kid needs some coaching I think but has so much raw ability, you can't ignore it. The burst is very evident, has potential in hand play, has good vision and feel. Just needs refined in technique and discipline. Ton of potential here. Tyleik WIlliams, DT, OSU - This is my guy... He is powerful, disruptive, instinctual, dedicated, with extremely high effort every play. His burst is lacking but I truly think that is his only real weakness to his game. He gets value almost every down, that's no lie. In any other draft, I bet he is 1-2 off the board, just to put it into perspective. This is a list to get started with and this isn't even ALL of the DT that will likely make an impact in the NFL. I have a 1st round grade on every single one of these guys, yet, no shot they all go in the first round. This is a good year to need a DT. I'd love to hear what others think. I was not expecting this class to be this good. Holy shit.. It's wild to me. Hope you all have an amazing weekend! Cheers.
Thanks for the research and insights. They have more big needs than they have picks high enough to sufficiently address them, but if this DT class is that deep, hopefully we can get an early contributor on Day 2 or early Day 3.
