Boss. Cincinnati is a 2 hour drive to me and I will go to Bengals game. Come be my guest if we are still in it
He was pretty consistently good this year. Granted 6 games, but still. Watch the all 22 above. I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the upgrade we will get at QB this year.
Well, he won 4 games last year in 6 starts, he was probably unlucky to be shifted to the bench for Wilson.
I don't hate this. He did fine in a game manager role with Pitt, although a much better run franchise. There is at least upside here. Give him a year and see how he does, if he hasn't figured it out next year is a dream year for QBs.
A new look QB and finally got ourselves a running and mobile QB! I am happy. Sure he s not the most accurate passer or gonna get us 7-8-9 wins but he s makes things happen. Hopefully we ll build the OL. Wanted him 4 years ago. Maybe he s better to wait til now!
I'll take this move over anything else that could have happened. Old, washed up vet is not the direction I wanted to go. Young and almost washed up gives us hope!!!!!
I’m no QB coach, but I wonder about the bolded part I think when a QB holds the ball too long because he needs to see the WRs open, many times that’s the result of a QB who doesn’t “see the field”, or doesn’t know how to read the defense, or doesn’t know where to go with the ball after the first read. Those are bad traits that are more on the mental side of the game…and I think those traits are very hard to coach up…yes good OC and QB coaches can help that a lot, but I think with a lot of guys…if they don’t have that by now, chances of learning that at the NFL level are low. Fields is athletic and has a strong arm, so that helps to mask this shortcoming quite a bit, so the hope is we can coach up these traits and his athleticism continues to help, but it’s not like we have a history of developing QBs and having good offensive coaching here, so I’m not all that optimistic. But overall, I do think this was the best option out there for us this year, and we’ll see what happens…
Some of y’all will complain no matter what. At this point just pick a new team and let the rest of us real Jet fans carry on
I agree and I like that plan. Maybe that Penn State TE (Warren) is a good choice in the draft then? He runs like his ass is on fire and is a good blocker. The passing game could consist of read action passes to Wilson, and quick dump offs to Warren where he pinballs off tacklers for 6-7 yards. Then the rest is just power running game, or "ground control" as you put it. Grind out a bunch of 20-17 type wins
I'd of liked this signing a lot more had Glenn made an OC hire that didn't ultimately leave me questioning on whether the guy we brought in even upgrades last year's room from the Hackett Experience. If nothing else though this signing on the younger guy hopefully takes the very real and very scary possibility off the table that Jets make the super reach'y "WE NEED TO HAVE AN ANSWER TO THE FRANCHISE QB QUESTION" Daniel Jones pick at #7 this year. Or even blowing any of our 2-4 picks on some other lottery ticket QB for that matter when they'd be better spent imo helping rebuild the rest of the in- need roster. So there is that to hopefully be a fan of. I wanted Winston for 2025, but I'm not gonna complain with settling on Fields. The idea of potentially watching 17 games of him at QB next year certainly intrigues me a lot more then having Tyrod in there as a QB1 would have.
They got him for short money and he's young with some potential. He probably was set back when he was drafted by the Bears who were as much of a mess as the Jets. He has some good offensive talent with Hall and his Ohio State teammate Wilson. Add a few more quality draft picks maybe we can have a winning season. Should they trade down for more picks or keep the 7th pick??
Justin Fields is definitely a huge upgrade over gimpy arrogant Rodgers. The added bonus here is the built-in chemistry between Fields and Garret Wilson who played together for 2 years in Ohio.
I hope this works out, and I think it very well can. I have a lot of hope right now. Its a far cry from what I was feeling this time last year.
Let me introduce you to Hue Jackson who said "I can't take another 1-15 win season. I'll jump into the lake". Spoiler alert: he was right, they didn't go 1-15, they went 0-16. The moral of the story is, we love you as a fan here. Please select a punishment that is less final
Here's the thing though. Is that really easier to coach? I can't recall a QB who got faster in the NFL with reads; can you? It seems that has been the fatal flaw for a lot of QBs; the problem appears to be when they get faster, they get more careless and inaccurate (and here come your bad interceptions over the middle). This I totally buy. If you can't make the QB faster, you can make the game slower around him.
I like how he a GW already have chemistry. Perfect bridge QB. Now we take McCord or Dart in the draft to sit and learn and develop the right way
