Man, I remember that Cold War match against Bobby Fischer. Fischer went off the rails a few years later.
That match gave Shelby Lyman his proverbial 15 minutes of fame. Here is a link to a great interview he gave about it in 2008. I vividly remember the way the bell would ring when a move came in, and they would read it and put it up on the board. No matter what, it seemed like the move was "amazing!" and "brilliant!". It was surprisingly exciting, even for someone like me who rarely played.
