Right now he has a late 1st or Day 2 rating. Drafting at 7 figure the other two QB prospects (Ward, Sanders) will be gone. Nevertheless, I think when people watch film of Milroe and all the evaluations of Combine and Pro Days come out, he will move up the charts. I like him because he has speed to burn and I think that'll help him while he learns the NFL game much like those I mentioned earlier, plus he's exciting. Admittedly he's a gamble, but what QB isn't.

I don’t think you’re getting him on day 2. I am not sure whether I’d want to jump in on drafting him or not yet.

But he’s a very dynamic player albeit equally as frustrating sometimes. It’s just hard to turn away from that playmaking ability.

It’s also a dumb misnomer earlier in the thread to say “he didn’t win” at Alabama like he was some kind of huge disappointment.

In 2023, they won the SEC Championship which included them beating defending back to back NC Georgia. He didn’t lose a conference game in 2023 and lost in the CFP Rose Bowl IN OVERTIME to eventual champion Michigan.

They had a rocky year as a team last year and he had some clunkers. It was the first Saban-less Alabama in 17 years. I’m sure the program was a bit messy behind the scenes.

I think it's toss up and really comes down to the direction we take in the FO.
if you bring in someone like Ben Johnson or Kingsbury and he wants to take his guy at 7 you let him.
But if it's Flores or Glenn I think you steer clear of a rookie starter. Grab someone in later rounds let him learn and battle with Travis

Taking an early look, and Mason Graham looks like an absolute stud at DT. Not sure he will be there at 7 though.

We need to draft a QB whether it’s first, 3rd, 5th round. Whatever QB we get let’s get a goddamn QB that can also run for a change!!!!!

they need to trade down and get some picks in first 3 rounds.

I'd be fine with OT or DL.

I'll never complain about improving the offensive line. Makes the job that much easier for the QB. Fashanu-Simpson-Tippman-AVT-Rookie is a very solid OL.

Having said that, the season fell apart because of the run defense IMO. If the GM thinks the run D can be addressed in FA, go for it. One way or another, it needs to be fixed.

Don’t know enough about specific players, but strategically, the positions that I think would be worth the 7th pick are QB, OT, DE, WR, CB…kind of in that order but really more so based on who the best prospect at one of those positions is…so assuming no QB is worth that high a pick this year (or the one or two who may be will already be gone by 7), then I’d be fine with any of those positions…and if the best prospect happens to be a DE then fine. I’d really prefer OT, and if there is a good one available and the ratings are close, that’s the way I’d go. We have to finally get this OL above average.

I think you can find run stuffing DTs and NTs in free agency just fine…we did it every year except last year…no idea why JD didn’t really address that position last year. I hear there is a really good DT coming out (Can’t remember his name), but as we already have Q, I think that would be redundant…like Mac did when we picked Q and already had Leo…I think Q has been better than Leo but still redundant and we ended up trading away one of them. So I’d rather avoid that. I get a couple of teams have done it too (the Commanders have two really good DTs) but I think we’d be better served going with one of the other positions.

Of course, we’ll see what happens in free agency, specifically does Reed leave? That may up the need for CB

Will be interesting to see how this all plays out

Sam could run decently and Zach W was a very good runner. Even Rodgers is mobile when not injured.

Folks, let me put this as simple as I can. First a question...

Is Andrew Luck or the 2nd coming of Andrew Luck in this draft?

If the answer is no then I don't want a QB on day 1, 2 OR 3!

People, the ONLY QB this team drafts, from this point forward, is the 2nd coming of Andrew Luck/Peyton Manning. Whatever QB lands on this team MUST be as pro ready as there ever was!!!!! Why you ask?

BECAUSE, the NY Football Jets have never, let me repeat that, NEVER drafted and developed a quarterback. EVER! Why in the HELL would anyone suggest drafting a quarterback? The team already has their project in last year's draft. They don't need another. Their one and only shot to pull in a QB was thrown in the trash when they had the opportunity to throw $250+ million at Lamar Jackson. Go look it up, I suggested it along with a few other prescient people only to be laughed at. How's that looking now? I would have spent whatever it TOOK to have that kid in green and white. But nooooooooooo... So, for those saying draft a QB, piss off. The New York Jets have NEVER drafted a QB that amounted to more than a couple decent seasons then to utter shit. The ONLY time they were ever good was with veterans.

Now, instead of wasting a pick on a wasted position let's focus on other areas. BTW, I don't think Wilson is the only one who is going to ask to be traded/let go this offseason. I'm waiting to hear from Gardner and Hall. I think BOTH are coming depending upon who they hire as HC. I'm not looking forward to this offseason at all.

Seriously folks, we already KNOW what next season is going to look like.

OT first, then CB, then DT......don't waste $$$$$$$$ on FA.....cut ALL high cap guys and use 2025 to clear out the cap for 2026.

money for 2026 to resign guys we want to keep already on the team.

improve the drafting and don't try to buy overpriced/ unwanted guys in FA..

This isn't sound logic to me.

Just because they have yet to do so, doesn't mean you stop trying.
When you stop trying, you seal the deal on the possibility.
Why put yourself in that position?
    Makes no sense.

Now that Arod isn’t coming back, I can def see the Jets trying to pick a QB in the first 2 rounds.

This is the year to trade down and get a second pick in next year’s draft. The QB’s in this class are weak, this is 2021 all over again. There are 4-5 candidates next year that will be rated higher than Cam Ward in my opinion. We need ammo for that draft, and if we already have our own high pick to grab a QB we can give him a career weapon potentially in the same draft.

Problem is, we'd have to find a sucker who doesn't know this draft sucks.

I appreciate your opinion but there are DECADES of history behind this. It's not just a onesie/twosie kind of a thing. Every-single-QB-this-team-has-drafted has been middling to fair to crap at best. More closer to the crap part. Unfortunately, until that changes, that is the ONLY opinion I have of QB's drafted by the Jets.

Because trying in the wrong year leads to Zach Wilson. There is not a franchise QB in this draft. There are multiple next year. Drafting a QB this year means they wouldn’t next year, a huge mistake. Trade down, stock up picks and keep building the OL.
