I wonder if they will try to bring in Hendon Hooker? I know he's been showing a lot of progress and was Detroit's QB of the future. Engstrand and Glenn would've been right there with him. I remember him as a poised passer that didn't make too many mistakes. Tyrod Taylor has a similar skillset he could learn from
I'd be very on board with this but he's under contract another two years. They'd have to cut him and eat $2 mil or trade him to us.
Who knew that someone's job title mattered so much? One guy sucked (and that's arguable) so anyone with the same job title sucks too?
I don't blame MLF for not getting more out of Zach Wilson than he did. You can't make a nuclear bomb without plutonium. Douglas set this franchise back years by drafting a kid who looked 15 years old and only had 1 good year in college playing a creampuff schedule.
Yeah, if you believe the reports, he was Jets top target for OC. Even McVey commented on it saying he talked to Caley about Jets opening. But he never received a formal request. This is a part I don't really understand. OC to me is almost as important a hire as Glenn himself. A critical hire. So, if Caley is your #1, move quickly, talk to him and if you like him, make a good offer, before other opportunities come along. At that point Tampa job was not open yet, Coen was thought to be coming back. So, if we moved quickly, we could have gotten him even before Tampa get a chance to interview him, which looks like happened yesterday. I have no idea who we end up with, but now if Caley was indeed #1, we might need TB to go in a different direction to get him. Now another guy who emerged, Tanner, who had resume nearly identical to that of Caley, except he was a passing coordinator for Ben Johnson in Detroit, while Caley for McVey. Of course having someone from McVey tree is much more appealing than from Ben's tree, so I am still hoping for that, but not sure now if we missed our shot at him.
I'll wait to see what they do before I criticize who may or may not be in play for AG. There was a major emphasis on bringing in the best coaches to set the culture of this team, so I imagine they will take their time with it to make sure they do get the best they feel they can get. It's scary stuff because it's a big deal for the team moving forward but I think it's going to be okay. Just got a feeling. I don't usually get good feelings with this team. So, for what it's worth. Excited to see who we bring in though.
I just read that Keith Carter is officially gone. https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1884684670417109171
Good to hear and hope most of the rest of this staff follows. I'd be open to Whitecotton, the LBs coach and maybe a couple others but need a fresh start
God I hope it’s Hackett just so I can hear guys like Ralebird tell us what a great idea it was all along to keep him.
Philly and Saquon should send him a thank you check! If it wasn't for his lousy coaching, Becton might have developed for US like he developed for them and Breece would be racking up the yards instead of Barkley.
