As a player at the Jets Rodgers has been a failure. As a component of the cap he has been a disaster. The sooner the Jets take the hit the sooner they can move on to the future from a long term viewpoint.

2025 could well be a year with little to no concern for the scoreboard but focused on securing those players who will be cornerstones of the future. Every dollar saved in the cap in 2025 is a dollar available for the future. I'd be very happy to have the lowest cap use in the league for 2025. Rodgers and his cadre have no place in the future of the NY Jets.

Yeah but we have alot of bad, bloated contracts as well. Mosely, Lazard, Quinnen, dead money from Reddick and D Adams assuming they’re both gone…. T Smith, Simpson…. I’d love to dump him now, I really would. It just may make sense to see if we can trade him as a salary dump ala Brock Osweiler back in the day. Basically give a late draft pick and Rodgers to split the salary. I don’t know if that’s even possible.

Lazard and Reddick are cuttable without much impact. Quinnen Williams can be restructured. Davante Adams also has little impact in the grand scheme of things if he’s cut. I’d imagine Mosely retires.

We’re in bad cap shape but we’re not in “can’t field a team” bad shape like the Saints or some other franchises in the past.

I was going through Overthecap and youMre correct. Cutting Adams along clears most of the damage cutting Rodgers will do. I don’t think Mosely retires and leaves 16m on the table. It costs us almost 4m more to cut him than to keep him.

With all the coaching hoopla happening with the Jets right now, why does Hackett still have meaningful employment with the New York Jets? It can only be 1 factor Aaron Rodgers.

It's too early to fire him right now. The way it works is that 1) we get HC, 2) who then gets an OC, 3) who then assembles his staff. We are in that second phase right now, while Hack will be fired in the 3d. But I do not expect Hack to be back with or without Rodgers. Just need to wait a little longer to get an OC and then get his staff.

Get real - Hackett is employed today for the same reason every other coach that hasn't quit is still employed today. Neither Glenn nor Mougey have even been formally announced as the new leaders - when were they supposed to start firing people? Not a single guy remaining on the staff can do any harm to the team for months - what's the hurry? Some of you guys see "signs" in the weirdest places.
