don’t worry there is already a thread to fire him, so all bases have been covered and we want him gone already yikes
All this hiring does is make it a possibility - even a very small one, that Hackett returns. For that alone. UGH
He might not have the job just yet. The Jets have not informed any GM finalist about whether they have or have not gotten the job yet, according to sources. Doesn't mean they don't know who will ultimately get the job — but there hasn't been an offer yet. — Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) January 24, 2025
I know nothing about him…so I will wait to see what he says, and more importantly, does, before making any comments. I’m interested in his overall vision for how to build a team, as a young guy he may be more open to analytics or current technologies or approaches, which would be good. I’d love to hear what he thinks of the QB situation, what they want to do with Rodgers, how well he will work with Glenn since obviously he was not the one to hire him (which actually I don’t love…if the GM and HC are independent and both report to a dufus like Woody, it just becomes way too easy for each guy to point to the other guy when things don’t go well) We’ll see…I’m a bit skeptical as he wasn’t a name I had really been hearing much, so a bit out of the blue, which only reminds me of Idzik and Mac, so there’s that, but shit, JD was a hot candidate and we saw how that ended, so hard to know who will work or not. I’m not super happy that we went with a first time DC for HC and a (maybe) relatively unhearalded first timer as GM to pair with the first time HC…just seems like we’ve done this over and over and over and it’s just never worked, but I’ll be rooting for both of them. Just kind of hoping for the best but expecting disappointment…hope they both prove me wrong
never heard of him but then I had never heard of most GMs prior to them getting their roles as actual GMs - he would be hard pushed to do a worst job than our last few GMs so by the law of averages it should be an upgrade. local journalists will like him as the name Mougey looks like it will rhyme with lots of things which will be great for headlines.
This is a team with no talent at WR or TE other than Sutton who is ancient. They drafted Franklin and Mimms high and neither did anything.. Other and Nix I don't see any lights out draft picks they made the last few years. Their biggest upgrade was getting JFM.... seems like this guy is perfect if we want to continue with wasted high draft picks... great job Brick !
"assistant" - he wouldn't have been making the big calls and frankly getting Payton in after Hackett was about as smart a move as I've seen.
Don't forget trading Jeudy for a 5th and 6th, but the fanboys will say he had nothing to do with that just like the Hackett hire, can't wait until Garrett Wilson wants out and this genious gets us a 4th for him and translates that into a player who never takes a snap for the Jets.
Bunch of swings and misses here... "Sutton who is ancient" - he's 29 "Mims didn't do anything" - first team all pro special teams, 6 TDs in his second season, deep threat that has helped their young QB develop a ton "don't see any other lights out draft picks" - the Broncos have 5 all-pro players on their roster, Mougey was in the building for all 4 of the homegrown players' drafts "biggest upgrade was getting JFM" - pretty good upgrade, and you're also wrong. Zach Allen, all-pro, was added this year Other than that, how was the play Mrs Lincoln?!
Sutton was here way before their GM... that's what I meant by ancient... Mims had 39 catches.. A high pick that is a special teams guy is a great pick? since when? Never said they didn't have all pros on D... You completely missed the point... if this "assistant" was valued as a potential GM candidate he certainly had input into the draft and they don't look all that great.. you need to take some gummies or something and calm the fuck down... stop being a douche when replying and reply in a respectful manner
Mougey was a college scout for the Broncos when the Broncos drafted Sutton. Not sure what your point was there. So now the goalposts move? You said they didn't have any lights out draft picks. Never said O or D. They have 4 all-pros drafted in the last three years when he was assistant GM. Their drafts are what got them back to the playoffs along with hiring Payton, two things an assistant GM would have been a part of. But you also don't think they had good drafts so I guess there's really no point in trying to discuss this point further. I'm sorry you didn't like me pointing out when you were wrong. I'll try to ignore it next time.
Yeah, I'll reserve judgment at this point. On the plus side, he can't be worse than Idzik, Douglas, or the worst of them all, Mike MacMoron. On the negative side, I hope he had nothing to do w the Broncos trading for Zach Wilson, the QB who costs us three seasons, thx to Douglas. I know Wilson costs the Broncos peanuts, but even I can see he not even worth a swap of late round picks.
Changed the thread title. But where there is smoke... I think they will announce him over the weekend.
"Only Nix" . Imagine where we'd be if with all of our missed picks, we somehow managed to get "the" guy?
