https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/01/jets-to-hire-darren-mougey-as-gm I personally never heard of the guy, and I wasn't going to be excited by anyone they hired, so I will slip into wait and see mode and take it from there. Good luck. Anyone who wants to start the fire Darren Mougey thread, feel free.
Downvote me if you'd like ; ) but I'm not feeling like any of these guys being mentioned are better than what we just had. Time will tell of course.
Wohoo were saved! Another nobody with no actual experience as a Gm just what we need to turn this around, superbowl here we come!!
Wohoo we are doomed. Another Jet fan that doesn't know the person from apple but quick to pass judgment. Some things never change.
Quick bio. He grew thru the ranks from scout to to director of player personnel, and then assistant GM. " Mougey quickly transitioned from his playing career to the scouting world as an intern with the Broncos in 2012. By 2020, he had reached the level of assistant college scouting director while continuing to rise through the ranks. Mougey took over as director of player personnel for 2021, and the following year he was promoted to assistant GM. After working under both John Elway and George Paton, he will now lead a staff of his own" If he learned from them, he will be nuts and bolts drafts without extravagant moves that take chances on potential.
There are no GM’s in the entire league anymore now that Baalke was fired, that ever had GM experience before they were hired.
We had since November 19th to plan for a Gm, and October 8th to plan for a new coach and these are the best 2 we could come up with. We Basicly just hired Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas 2.0.
That doesn’t make any thing you said above true in the slightest. And you’ve made the same post about 800 times since October. You hate it all - we get it.
As soon as he became assistant general manager of the Broncos, they hired Hackett as their head coach , all you need to know about this Genious.
You've pretty useless when it comes to providing substance... up til now. I just learned that assistant GMs in their very first year hire head coaches. Thank you, did not know that.
He worked for the broncos organization for a long time before than, I am sure he had a big role in the hiring of Hackett. All good keep settling for the dreck woody keeps peddling you, you don't have to take my word for it, see 25 year sample size as proof.
In other words, you know nothing about the person, but since he was there as a director of player personnel, he had something to do with hiring Hackett.? Well, he was there last two years, as deputy GM, did he fire Hacket and hire Payton? Brilliant. You do realize how far off reality you statement is.
I wish him luck but have concerns because our management choose him. I cant remember the last time we made a good decision on a major hire.
See Woody's 25 year sample size of hiring 1st time gm's and coaches as Exhibit a. , nothing more to be said here besides that I am done with this. Waste of time trying to get my point accross to people who are oblivious, carry on, "superbowl here we come". "great hire Woody", " you've outdone yourself this time Woody", "your the man Woody", pom pom's out!
You've made your point 80,000 times in the last two days. No one cares. We get it, the Jets historically suck. If literally everything we do is "well Woody sucks we suck 25 years wahhh boooo hisss" then why bother being a fan? The routine is old.
Woody's an idiot. This team will never do anything. He's guaranteed to fail as GM. More years of mediocrity. He's untested. Glenn is another 1st year defensive coach destined to fail. Brick selected the GM using Madden. I'm trying to cover all the negative statements we are likely to see about the recent hires. Have I left anything out?
