A few things I feel, I hope our new GM agrees I watch these playoff teams and for the most part I notice the following. All have excellent OL, not even a weakness on the line. If we are still with Aaron, we might as well continue to build that foundation so the next QB won't be asked to do too much with no line. Also, playoff teams utilize TWO TE's so much....we should really target TE now. -TE should absolutely be a pick of ours in the top 3 picks we have. Tyler Warren is a stud, just all around player and versatile. He won't be there past 15, and is a dark horse top 10 pick. I also really like this Harold Fanin kid from Bowling Green. Someone said he's like Antonio Gates and I can't unsee it. A project pick, Round 3/4 I really like is Oronde Gadsen Jr from Syracuse. May be more of a true receiving threat than blocker but is a sleeper. If we somehow end up with one of these, I am happy. -Trade back, still think we need to yield another pick and trade back. -Prospects I love: -JT Tuimoloau: SSDE OSU. I know we have JJ back but is a solid depth piece. I know JJ will be fine but we have nobody behin him or WMCD. -Andrew Mukuba-FS Texas -Will Campbell OT LSU -Jihad Campbell LB Bama -Jack Sawyer DE OSU -Elic Ayomanor WR Stanford
This will be a fascinating offseason. The Rodgers all in experiment wrecked the cap. The team is tight against the cap, like really tight. Does the new regime think you can contend or that a rebuild is in order? A rebuild means likely taking a step back. If it is a rebuild you should approach Wilson, Hall, Sauce, and Q and see if they are willing to go through that process. If they don't, do you shop them? Is Taylor your QB next year? No QB in the draft excites me. I think you build the lines. Try to trade down for picks. I think a right tackle early, a guard (last year for AVT?) and a depth tackle. A defensive tackle or two or bargain bin FA. A safety or two. When in doubt take a lineman on either side. At some point we will have a new QB. If he is a rookie then a good line will be his best chance to succeed. More young qbs are ruined as the game is faster for them and if constantly pressured they make mistakes and begin looking in the wrong places.
I am fully on board with drafting OL … a good DE probably still needed unless JJ shows he can come back strong, but I think it’s tough to come back from an Achilles at an explosive position like that…I just think we need to upgrade from McD/Clemons/Reddick. We need a solid run stopping DT to sit alongside Q, and if we let go of Reed, we probably can use a solid CB as well, though Echols is not bad…just not sure if he’d hold up well as a full time starter Sad that we are at this point, but the QB question is the biggest one of all, but regardless of that, I am all good with continuing to invest in OL
In my opinion there is not a QB in the draft worthy of first round consideration. I think the best thing to do is trade down and amass picks. We have no cap room to sign stars and we need alot of help. Trading down could net us a TE like Loveland or a LB like Schwesinger, both of which we desperately need. There are also a ton of OT prospects, I’d have no issue drafting another to shore up the RT position. Maybe even Malaki Starks at S, though I think he’ll go early. 7 overall should give us some good trade options. Edit: Seeing as we just signed Glenn as HC I’m sure the pick will bee the best DT available at 7.
Good post, I agree with the sentiments and like some of your suggested players. The oregon TE, Ferguson, looks really good too by the way. I think in the first round, if he's there, it's going to hard to pass on Abdul Carter the pass rusher, he is a rare talent. I like the Texas lineman and Will Campbell you have listed, but if Carter is there, it probably should be him, we could have a fantastic pass rush with him, Jermaine Johnson, Quinnen Williams and McDonald
Yeah…honestly I think OL is still our top priority, but I’ve always felt you can never have enough pass rushers as it’s easy to rotate them so you can play them all…I like JJ but unknown how he’ll play coming back this year from an Achilles…that type of player needs explosion and it’s tough…we saw how Lawson was not the same guy when he came back from his Achilles so there is certainly concern there. I like McD ok but at his size, it feels like he needs a stud on the other side to help, and well Reddick, he’s gone and good riddance to a guy who never wanted to be here. So sad as it is, I do think DE is still some kind of need…though if we had an OT and a DE equally rated, I’d still probably lean towards the OT. We need a dominant OL regardless of who the QB is
I think we can move on from OL, the Defense is complete mess, and needs to be addressed again. Any plans will be up in the air, because Rodgers, and the off-season drama coming, if he should retire or not, it's going to be a shit show.
I’m still interested in Milroe. So damn explosive. I think it’s Will Campbell for me in the first round though otherwise. Build a wall.
We can’t for some time be lights out on both sides of the ball. Passing offense reigns supreme now. Draft to focus on developing a modern, explosive, offense. So OL in rd 1.
I’m sorry you continue drafting QBs until we find the one. Idc what round I personally wouldn’t do it in the first this round because of talent. But I would def draft one in the later rounds. I like Dart as well
what do you guys like about Dart? I've admittedly been wrong about QBs, I guess we all have, but I truly dont see it with Dart. I see a very unrefined QB that really has no anticipatory game, similar to Zach Wilson. He's athletic but if you are going to go that route you might as well go with Milroe who is A LOT more athletic
Without knowing who the best players are, I think OL and DL should be at the top of the list. I think the run defense is the biggest issue on this team right now, considering just how badly they fell off last year. I also realize the run defense will be way easier to address in FA than OL. If the front office thinks they can address in free agency, than I think drafting someone for RT is a good move as well. There is also a world where Garrett asks to be traded, and that opens up WR as well in the first. Hopefully he re-signs long term, but I dont feel great about that.
Nothing. There’s nothing to like about any of the QB’s in this draft honestly. Add to that we have a defensive coach, there’s absolutely nothing to like about any rookie QB, period. I’m tired of watching defensive HC’s completely trash young QB’s. Sign Tyrod to a 3 year deal and we can draft a QB in 3 years when we fire all these idiots again.
Agree with comments above. Needs don’t change much, how we go about filling them I hope is far better. Priority order for me, with early rounds is DL, OL, CB, TE, WR. I have excluded QB because the selection is weak this year. I would be happy trading down, recouping picks and adding talent. No to trading up please, we have to refill the middle of this roster. Roster cap is a problem, need to figure out what to do with AR big ticket. Could we renegotiate?
LOL And for good measure, these cough, good points get repeated every hour on the hour irrespective of topic. Like a Jet fan water torture.
You come at me for being angry about this hire. You’re telling me that you’re happy that we hired a defensive coach again when we need a franchise QB for the 6th time now after failing every single time before? Is that it? You’re sure Woody’s been doing it right all along but just had bad luck? Please explain to me how this works now when it didn’t 5 times before?
get a grip dude, take a cold shower maybe. We are talking about draft prospects in this thread. There's like 10 other different threads where you can bitch about how they didn't select the coach you wanted
