McCarthy would've been my choice, but all the whining here is just sad.... Adam Gase comparisons?!?! Dude, c'mon.... Let's go AG.... (although I'm not looking forward to the NFL putting JETS-MIA on MNF and replaying the fake-spike replay on loop like the stupid "buttfumble")
Personally I would have preferred McCarthy or Kingsbury…prior HC experience, offensive coaches…those would have been my top choices. I would have liked to see serious consideration for some of the top OC’s like Monken and Brady…Coen I know decided to stay at TB but I would have liked to see a serious in person interview with these two OC’s. Going the DC route, which I did not really want to see, I probably would have preferred Spags…also had previous HC experience and honestly has a better track record of building top defenses at multiple teams. So while I loved Glenn as a player and I do like the good things we hear about him as a leader, I’m just having a hard time getting excited about yet another first time DC coach…Herm, Mangini, Rex, Bowles, Saleh…that’s 5 of the last 6 hires as first time DC guys, sandwiched by one loser who happened to be an offensive guy but who everyone except obviously Woody and company knew was a bad hire in Gase. So we have one offensive failure and 5 defensive failures and sure, why not let’s do it yet again with a first time DC guy? It just boggles the mind. In the end, who knows…maybe Glenn will be the one to finally figure out how to build a consistent winner, how to run the right offense and how to develop a QB…but the odds are not in his favor…I’m hoping he works out, but I won’t be holding my breath…
Gase never put on the Green and White. At least AG has that over him. There’s equity there. That has to count for something.
I'm actually really fucking stoked. Let's go AG!!! I think once you guys do some research, open your eyes a little, ya'll will ease up on the doom N gloom mentality a bit. I'm cautiously optimistic but shitting on our new HC before he even gets a chance Is nonsense. Support him, he hasn't done ANYTHING to ANYONE as a NYJ to not get that at least. Step away from the ledge, it ain't that serious.
Probably just covering all the bases. Too many of these guys just blast full speed ahead on opinion rather than dealing with facts. Kind of the same with those who read the stuff.
Its mind blowing the Jets screwed this up again. Fuck this franchise. Mike McCarthy is sitting there for the taking and would get this team back to winning but lets gamble on another coordinator. Unreal. The issues with this team run very deep. Its not a job for a coordinator to figure out how to fix. They need someone with experience who can gut this team from the inside and out. Absolutely zero chance a coordinator will do that. See all the people that work at Florham. THEY NEED TO ALL GO AND BE REPLACED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. DRAIN FLORHAM PARK....... https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/front-office-roster/
I mean even if not Mike Mccarthy atleast Rex Ryan, Rex Ryan in his sleep is way more qualified for this job than Aaron Glenn.
You won't see Glenn sitting on the bench fuckin looking at his clipboard mid-game like Gase. He's not going to be a mute like Todd Bowles. Or a phony (at times) like Saleh. He's a real dude who brings energy and focus. everybody loves what Dan Campbell has brought to the Lions, are we looking back at where Campbell's fucking TEs were ranked statistically in New Orleans before he got the Detroit job? Of course not. So give me a break with that criticism
In what tangible way is hiring one of the worst coordinators in football, who has never been a HC, a good hire? Other than “he played here” or “he seems cool!”
You have no idea about any of this its all fantasy land talk. We hired a flat out bad coach. You might like him for whatever ridiculous and frankly weird reason, but this is an all time awful hire.
Except it doesn’t. It is completely meaningless except for weirdo fans who think it has ANY relevance whatsoever.
we were never going to attract any of the really hot prospects as we don't have a young QB with potential which any HC knows they need to have if they are going to have a chance of success (and knowing that teams with a top tier QB almost never sack their coach as they are usually winning plenty of games) - don't hate the choice but absolutely nothing to get excited about - especially given how bad the team is. He is basically starting from ground zero and given it is going to take 3-5 years minimum to turn this team around (unless we somehow fluke into the next Mahomes in the draft which will never happen) which means he is almost certain to be fired after 2-3 years when we continue to suck. I wish I could hope he does well but this team just sucks all the hope out of you - I'll instead expect the worst and wait to be proven right.
He brought so much energy and focus to his bottom 5 ranked defenses every year. Especially in playoff games! lmfao.
