Seems the only time where there is unanimous congressional agreement on anything is when it’s for anywhere but here

Was happy to see that apple country right outside chimney rock was up and running strong. Nothing like the orchards in the fall(for an apple junkie, anyway). Only problem is , when these are gone, going back to the crap at the supermarket is depressing.

We didn't even have a winter in Texas last year and now we're getting snow on Tuesday supposedly. China is angry about the election.

As someone who had a big tree limb crash through my roof during Sandy, believe me when I say that there is no such thing as giving a big FU to your insurance company - the best you can hope for is that they don't give a big FU to you. And, to be honest, in my case they didn't.

Fair enough... but when you get an arbitrary letter from them stating "According to our records, your roof is 15 years old. If the roof is not replaced, you will lose your policy"
Never mind the fact that I roofed the house with "30 year architectual shingles" and they never actually sent someone to do an inspection....

I understand your point, but would also point out that that letter is precisely the sort of FU from the insurance company to the customer that I am referring to! It's also interesting to me, as I've never heard of anything like that, and my insurance company certainly doesn't have the slightest idea when I last had work done on my roof (is that a hurricane thing?).

Possibly, but basically here they only want to write policies that assume no risk. I've owned the home for over 20 years and haven't made a homeowner's / wind claim (flood is a different policy). They did the same to my parents, and they have a ceramic tile roof. it's bullshit.

Ironically said letter literally came the day after I was up on the roof to reach/ trim tree branches getting close to the house (I do this every year before storm season) and thought "this roof is still in pretty good shape"

Calling for 5-8 here in the myrtle beach area. Been about 14 years since we’ve seen anything close to that. It’s been a very cold January, I’ve never seen prolonged cold like we’ve had this year.
