just sad to say that the list seems to be pretty underwhelming…in the last couple of years we’ve had Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh available…proven winners…and we weren’t even in the game then. Now, the closest to that is McCarthy, also a Super Bowl winner but we’re not even talking to him apparently. I don’t want yet another DC as a first time HC…we’ve tried that time after time and it just has never worked for us. Time to try something new. I’d be fine with McCarthy, I’d love Kingsbury, I wouldn’t mind Monken…just get an offensive guy. If not offense, then I could get my head around Spags at least he’s been a successful DC in multiple places, he’s been an HC before…I’d rather have him than Rivera, who to me is just the epitome of mediocre and yes I say that knowing he did get to a Super Bowl, but I just don’t see it with him. I don’t want Glenn even though I loved him as a player for us…I just can’t do another rookie DC. I don’t want Flores…yes we need a strong leader with discipline but we also need someone to pull the team together instead of alienating players. I just don’t think that will work here…to be that kind of HC you need to be a proven winners…Lombardi, Parcells, Belichick…he’s not in that class. So not super crazy about any of the options honestly but if I had to rate them, I’d be good with either of McCarthy or Kingsbury…knowing that Ben Johnson is not interested. I’d put guys like Monken a bit behind those two, probably on par with Spags.
Same thing happened to Eberflus when he took over there. Might be a common theme. Nagy put together a good staff in Chicago. He should get another shot somewhere. If Gase got one, then why not Nagy?
Don't worry leave it to the Woody's to hire a last minute coach who is more incompetent than Ulbrich, while Mike Mccarthy is intervewing everything but the Jets the Jets are weighing the options on whether they wanna hire Aaron glenn or flores, 2 turds.
It's beginning to look like Glenn and Newmark. Both coming tomorrow, worked in Detroit together for 3 years. Please say it ain't so...
Then none of this matters anyway. ..and there have been several teams over the years that have one a SB with shitty QB play.
Maybe there is no hope after all... Detroit is starting to turn things around because of their offense, and we look to bring a DC from there, even though defense was only decent for 1 year and bad all others. And a GM as well. I mean credit for finally having two solid years, but Detroit stunk worse than the Jets for decades in spite of having Stafford!!! Newmark has been there for 20+ years in that dump. And now after 2 good years we will likely hire him over Halaby, Borgonzi, and even JES who had decades of success? This is too much.
Adam Schefter on X: "Bear down: Chicago is finalizing a deal to hire Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as its next head coach, sources tell ESPN. Bears are getting their man. https://t.co/UwlLk3wNJZ" / X
Well I am in Indy. TV's won't show Jet games. If Woody goes with this duo I won't go to bars to watch the Jets. Will save some money actually. Go ahead Woody. Do it. Hire another DC for his first HC job. And bring in an underachiever in Newmark. This will be worse than Saleh-Douglas time together.
If you look at Woody's tenure with the Jets, probably the only two organizations that have been worse are the Lions and Browns. So, why the fuck would you pick a GM who came through the system last 25 years through one of these organizations? The one that wasted Stafford. Only Woody would think it is a great idea. And if you do get that guy, to pair him with a DC from the team that wins with offense instead of Kingsbury, who btw is on his current team Commies? If you get Newmark, at least have a sense of getting him with Kingsbury. I just feel it is a terrible idea to try to go Detroit way, when they are historically worse than even the Jets. Just terrible. Hoping for a miracle that it won't happen. But I suspect these two guys will be named in a few days.
No surprise there. Ben wanted to go to a team, which had a QB and has been linked to Chicago a while back almost like Vrabel to NE.
True. Denver won the Super Bowl with a shitty Payton at the helm, but that’s an outlier. He was actually pretty good during the season.
