It’s a disaster from the womb. Seriously, what remotely competent GM candidate is going to want the job if Rex is under serious consideration? Anyone who takes it is going to be a third tier candidate by definition

Yes one guy; Dick Vermeil. He was out of the league for 15 years and returned and won a super bowl. I don't know how many have tried to return, it's not common.

The game changes a lot but like I said all of your connections are gone. So many coaches/coordinators are gone or in a different place. Rex would likely not have any quality people to come with him.

Not the worst idea. I think he is better off staying in KC and taking over when Reid leaves.

Spags is turning into NFL legend status at this point as a coordinator. If he can takeover KC in a few years and get one title it would cement him forever.

Spagnuolo is a very good choice, if he'd take the job. NJ guy. Prior HC experience. Has won Super Bowls as a coordinator.

Actually spags is almost the same as Reid. Maybe he actually is looking to head coach again. I would give him a shot. His stint in St Louis was bad but that was a long time ago now and he had Sam Bradford who wasn't exactly the best QB.

Spags just took my first choice spot.

    :p:D:D:D

It's really kind of sad if you think about it.

    A. I 100% agree with his take on every single person on that list AND
    B. Can't believe that this team has all but ONE of those people on their interview sheet...and oh, BTW, Ben Johnson, supposedly, is NOT on their list. You can't make this shit up.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Ben is not a good fit, because he said he does not want to be here. This was reported by 4-5 different people not just Russini. But even aside from him, the list does look like shit. I hope it is because we do not have a GM yet, and once the new GM is selected there will be a final tighter round with good names, where he will participate.

I can't remember but aren't the Jets one of those franchises that often hire the HC before the GM? I can't remember...

I read your post about Ben and you'll see my reply. I get it. But you STILL extend the olive branch!

The most irritating thing about this year's coaching options is the fact that were some REALLY GOOD options LAST year and our shit stain of an owner up and decided to drop a deuce in his tighty whities and not make the change LAST year. Just so he could squeeze 5 regular season games out of Worthless Bob before he tossed his ass to the curb. Our years for coaching searches damn near matches the crap we get stuck with when it's time to draft a QB. ALWAYS looking for a QB in the years like this one coming up instead of looking in the years like LAST one! It's a flippin' PATTERN!

⬆️ I would pay $100 if I could listen to the phone call between Woody and Ben so I could hear the request for Ben”s interview and Ben”s response. That way I know the call happened and what Ben said. Then and only then will I be satisfied. Not hearsay reporting. Without a call to Ben, this is not a search!!!

Seriously…even as a cover your bases type deal…make the call

You never know …so what if he rejects the request…you make it and then let him say yes or no

Same for Monken…how does he not get a call?

    https://athlonsports.com/nfl/new-yo...johnson-just-said-no-to-the-new-york-jets-job

""Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson "does not have interest in coaching the Jets team,'' as first reported by The Athletic.""
"..Coach Ben Johnson Just Said No To The Jets"

Guys, he said he is not interested. He said no to the Jets. That was before we could even request to talk to him officially. According to multiple sources. And this article details why. We have no QB. It sucks, but nothing the Jets can do here. Woody and JD fucked us with this whole Sam/Zach/Rodgers fiasco.

Monken, Coen, and Kingsbury though - that I do not understand why we didn't request. But Ben is very obvious there was no need to request as the guy pre-emptively said no. There is no choice but to move on.

Agreed, color or anything else I don't really give a shit, just want a good guy. I don't even mind that Kraft did some sham interviews to get passed Rooney rule, to get Vrabel in ASAP. If you want someone as a coach and clearly that guy can't wait to be hired by you, so be it. I just hope with Vrabel likely to NE, Jets don't fuck it up. And Vrabel was not at the top of my list either, but the list I see now, there are a lot of people worse than him. Some way worse.
