Woody couldn't possibly be so braindead as to not realize his back is literally up against the proverbial wall. He's in real danger of losing the fanbase permanently and a very public and embarrassing fan revolt. There has been Zero positive PR about his team this season and being the media junkie he is, this had to have some effect. I think this time Woody makes the right decision as people usually do when their livelihood or source of pride is threatened. Like I said, Woody fucks this up and to coin a phrase: "Its curtains".
Why would he care, though? The NFL is idiot-proof. Woody will continue making money hand-over-fist and the value of the Jets will continue to climb regardless of what the product on the field looks like. There's no reason for him to really care about winning since it doesn't affect his bottom line in any way, shape, or form. Everyone just needs to settle in and accept that we're nowhere near the end of this playoff drought. As bad as it is now, it's going to get worse. The fun will be in trying to figure out just how it's going to get worse, because these bums always manage to do it in wildly creative ways.
If this is true, then there should be tons of tickets available on the open market for home games. True fans need to avoid MetLife like the Plague as that's the only option left to us. Flying planes is a good way to embarrass Woody but when he gets that monthly invoice, he'll laugh his ass off all the way to Brick's dorm room.
There really are no options open to the fans to force a change in direction. There's no way to vote with our wallets because they're going to get their money anyway. The NFL will only start caring about the Jets' ownership if they discover that Woody has been doing something (and I'm even remotely implying that he has) like what Snyder was doing with Washington's financial records. Only when a team's ownership actively impacts the bottom line of the rest of the owners will they do something about it. Since that's not happening, then there's no way that we're going to get any kind of change here. The Jets are never going to get better. Their days as a somewhat competitive franchise are over. The only thing they have to look forward to is setting the all-time NFL playoff drought record in 2036.
There should have been a battalion of planes flying messages for Woody around MetLife on Sunday but nobody cares enough anymore.
There's really no point to that anymore. Doing that costs a lot of money and, quite frankly, Woody and the Jets aren't worth that anymore, either from a time and effort or from a monetary perspective.
Actually, that’s where you’re wrong. No one needs to settle in and get ready for anything. As some of said, this continues on much longer, with no end in sight, there won’t be a fan revolt. There will be a fan, jumping ship session…
