How do you know that she wanted Brown traded? Did she order Robinson to draft Isaiah Wilson or Caleb Farley?

I don’t know about this heavy Tennessee connection…they were good not great teams, and they weren’t good for very long…I thought the AJ Brown trade was stupid shit, and if this is the guy who did it, then go away. As for Vrable, I’m kind of meh…I wouldn’t puke at the hire but I also wouldn’t be ecstatic…I see him as a safe kind of guy to get us to mid-level performance…I don’t see him as a Super Bowl guy but I also don’t see him as a 3 win type guy either. But yeah, I heard about that friction so I doubt both would come.

To me, the best run front office organizations I think are Pitt, Balt, and Phil. KC has had sustained success but that seems due more to Reid and Mahommes rather than a strong front office, but I guess I’d put them in that group as well…they did have the foresight to sign up Reid when Phil let him go, and they had the foresight to trade up for Mahomes so those are the top 4. Maybe SF should be in that group as well? Detroit certainly turned it around so someone from that org who was there and part of it and saw how it was done could be good too.

So if I were conducting the search, I would start with those organizations.

I know that JD was a Balt/Phil guy and he didn’t work out in the long run, but to me, his failures were ones of tactics and not strategy. He had the vision of how to build long term success, and he invested resources into the required areas (ie: OL and DL), but he just whiffed most pointedly on the QB but also too many whiffs on OL and WR. But those were the right positions to address strategically. Not like Mac and Idzik who both wasted top picks on safeties and Mac drafted DT top 5 two years in a row…not the right way to use resources.

As for Reddick, was he ever in a front office, or was he just only a TV guy? That I don’t know. But if just TV, I wouldn’t even consider it. It’s a HUGE difference talking about it with no stakes on the line from a TV booth to actually having to run the show in real life. I thought Mike Mayock was a good draft day announcer and he totally sucked balls once he was in the Raiders seat. So no thanks to that.

I guess I’m glad we’re starting early on the search, but these two names aren’t giving me warm fuzzies….hopefully the list gets much better

Well said! I would also add Minnesota as a FO that seems somewhat "put together." They always seem to be in the mix...

Not bad start. He's been out for 4 years, and had 3 losing seasons in a row before that, so it's been a while since he had some success as a GM, but not a bad person to talk to. Like you said, a nice guy to start the interview process with, even though I do expect the Jets to hire someone better. Not my top choice, but could be worse to be sure.

I’ve listed to all the podcasts with Vrabel, the GM, and the titans players. I don’t know about Wilson or Farley.

I’m curious to see if there is a list of potential available GMs come January out there and what the top choices would be then. So far skipping Riddick, is not a bad start.

I remember reading this after Vrabel was let go. She sounded like a nightmare.

I think I’m out on all these retreads. How many general managers get a second chance? How many succeed?

I think Trent Baalke is the only one with a second chance and the Jaguars are awful just like what he did to the 49ers.

The crazy thing is the GM just flat out admitted it in the subsequent press conference. They asked him a question about why Vrabel was fired, and he said something to the effect of “I don’t know, I wasn’t there.” LOL

Amy Adams Strunk fired Vrabel. Everything else is nonsense. Thanks Jon.

Knowing Woody, he'll pass on Vrabel and hire Robinson.

Ok, so far, we know we have or will be interviewing the following candidates for GM:

    - Robinson, former Titans GM
    - Riddick, ESPN analyst
    - Nagy, Sr. Bowl Director and former Seahawks scout
    - Dimitroff, former Falcons GM

I guess casting a wide net is never a bad idea, but I would automatically say no to Riddick if he’s just been an ESPN Analyst…if he hasn’t been high up in a front office for a real team, and this would be his first, that will for sure automatically fail and I don’t even understand why we are wasting time interviewing an unqualified candidate. Awful. We saw this show when Mike Mayock was hired by the Raiders and that failed utterly…there is a HUGE different between commenting on draft picks as opposed to being the guy making the decision. Hard pass there.

Don’t know enough about Nagy, but I’ve not seen that he’s been a GM or Asst GM before, so again, I think we need a more seasoned person for this role, so again, Hard Pass.

That leaves two former GMs in Dimitroff and Robinson, and again, while I don’t know enough about either guy, I’d feel way better with someone who’s actually done the job before, and both of these guys have had some level of success, so I would say these are qualified candidates. Would like to see more like them.

But I wouldn’t be pissed if it was Dimitroff or I guess Robinson…again, not knowing much about either guy.

Thought I'd add this, too. In light of that bullshit article about Juedy and the Madden rating, my guess is the next GM will be a mix of Yogi and Boo Boo bear to along with Foghorn Leghorn as the H.C.

The only assholes STUPID enough to come to this shit hole are cartoons. Anyone else needs to have their fucking head examined!

I wonder...has an NFL team ever NOT been able to hire a H.C. and/or a G.M? Well shit-tard diggly...this might be the first fucking one. If I were ANY kind of competent football man, I wouldn't touch that ass-nightmare with a million mile pole.

Nagy- 18 years a scout for WAS, NE, KC, and SEA. Never an exec.

Seems like a good fit to build and manage our scouting department. However, we are currently in the market for a GM, who is responsible for many more things besides scouting: Negotiating contracts; wooing coaching candidates; keeping up to date on Madden rankings…
