What pieces though? Soto is such a damn attractive piece because he’s going to be that highly paid for the majority of his prime. It’s not like A-Rod or Cano or some of the other bad monster contracts where they get them when they’re 30-31 and you basically acknowledge the last couple years are going to be trash. Ironically ARod kind of lived up to it even at the end.

Idunno if you can sign enough pieces to get that. Alonso and Fried I guess?

True. I’m still hoping they sign him. I guess we have to address filling for rizzo and gleyber regardless. Still worried about the bullpen, and starting pitching. Stuck with Rodon, wonder if Cole can hold up a whole season and post season.

Boone is back as expected. Apparently Steinbrenner is meeting with Soto this week.

The Yankees offer to Soto was reportedly one year longer, but short 5 million. At 765, I guess that 5 really would have made a difference. He was heading to the Mets even before he signed with the Yankees imo. At that price, I’m good with it. They can stock up properly with that money. (Hopefully)

It is a little more complicated than just being $5 million short though. The Mets offered an opt out after 5 years that they can block by upping the annual deal by $4 million/year. They also reportedly front loaded it more than the Yankees and I think included a big ol’ signing bonus.

In the short term it sucks, in the long term I think the Yanks will be grateful for the flexibility.

I’d guess they go sign Alonso now pretty quickly and either Fried or Burnes. I’d be in on a trade for Arenado and suddenly you still have a pretty good lineup.

I’m definitely worried about the rotation too. I think Cole was good in the post season because he had the injury early and came in rested.
Hopefully they don’t think they can ride next year with what they have, hopefully they have something up their sleeve.

Losing Soto is unfortunate for sure, and it gives Cashman more ways to screw up. But some of the meltdowns about him leaving is a bit much. He was here for one year, he played extremely well, he left, he's getting 800 million (if he opts in) and that's a ton of money for his skillset.

I wouldn't boo him, or give him a tribute video. I'd give a normal clap, appreciate the year he gave us and enjoy watch him take an at bat because he's an amazing hitter.

I will mention Gleyber once more before he goes somewhere else.

What does MLB think of him? The Angles and Nationals, bottom dwellers, are the only teams that are interested currently, and one of them asked him to move to third base.

There are some rumors floating out there that Luis Gil will be included in a trade for Kyle Tucker from the Astros. If true and you sign Walker, you suddenly have a very good lineup again (if they fucking assemble it right).

They traded away Durbin…. I thought he may have been gleybers replacement.

Tucker is an incredible player. Wanted him.. but I guess it's wise to not go the one year rental route again and give up mlb level prospects.

That being said I have concerns about Gil being good long term, but he can definitely prove me wrong.

For Poteet. Cubs paid the Yankees money too.

This is weird, but quite beneficial!
