We've never placed a premium on acquiring smart players. JD drafted the following rocket scientists: Becton Moore Mims Ruckert Corley Abanikanda Clemons All of them were guys with talent who couldn't learn the playbook and/or had massive character issues. Combine that sort of player with coaches who don't hold anyone accountable and this is what we get. As far as trade and FA acquisitions - these have primarily been aging vets who simply don't care anymore. The Jets are their final stop before Cancun.
That was never gonna happen because they would have not have their Rodgers season. So the idea of Woody firing JD and Saleh prior to seeing Rodgers in action is revisionist history. Folks need to PLEASE stop saying this. No other Owner or GM would have done based on Rodgers season ending injury in the 1st game. JD messed up Saleh's DL with the JFM, Huff silliness. All you had to do was restructure JFM and sign Huff. And yes JSN over McD which I called for myself and a lot of other people on this board. the McD pick was assuming Rodgers & offense was going to be scoring machine and we would be playing from ahead most games. I don't care how many sacks McD has – JSN in the slot with Wilson would be lethal right now. I mean even Gonzalez would have been a better pick and we could have moved Reed for a draft pick. and then JD didn't give Saleh a kicker when Z was cooked. ...and Saleh gets fired first....laughable.
After a bit of as rough start today a WOW catch at the end of the game in a pivotal situation and a WOOOOOW game. Had he hauled in the deep ball earlier in the game could've had nearly 300 yards receiving today.
If were actually in a play-off race, a 3d round pick for Davante is a great deal. Not sure why JD could not pull the trigger on that and needed Woody to take over for him. Too bad we suck this year and wasted this opportunity.
Its going to hurt this off season to see this guy (presumably) float off in another direction. He's a really good player and I love him on the field with Garret Wilson. And the fact that he finally had a good stat line today is not why I'm saying that. Much like AR, even though magic hasn't exactly been happening he's clearly a superior player to the shit we've been fielding the last several seasons.
