Sources - Jets to interview Robinson, Riddick for GM opening - ESPN

Here we go. Robinson is an interesting candidate. He was the GM for 5 playoff appearances in 7 seasons in Tenn. An strong mid-round drafter which is the antithesis of the last several GM regimes here.

Several good draft picks but some very questionable trades for sure, ie AJ Brown.

Good to see the Jets getting in front of the process for once. Taking their time and doing a thorough evaluation of the market.

Jon Robinson as a GM would very likely mean Mike Vrabel as head coach. I might be down for that. I'm leaning more towards experienced guys for GM+HC rather than first timers.

I was thinking exactly the same and Vrabel as Head Coach would be fine in my eyes

No to Vrabel unless you want more inept offenses for years to come. Robinson can stand on his own merit without needing Vrabel here.

Sometimes on the second go round, HC's take a hard look at their weak points. I'm sure Vrabel knows his offenses have been dogshit minus Derek Henry so perhaps he hires a more competent OC NOT NAMED TODD DOWNING or NATE HACKETT under any circumstances.

Don't see Riddick. We desperately need a GM with more background and experience. I’m 100% on board with Vrabel as a HC candidate. He run a damned good and tight ship. His teams played hard and disciplined thru out his tenure. He is much more likely to have learned from his offensive challenges in the past and improve than a hot new OC from becoming a HC and run all aspects of the team. Not to mention his D would not have given up the lead week after week like this circus. He would be a great asset when surrounded by a good OC. Mike is extremely well respected by players and coaches.

Riddick probably called in a favor with Tanny but if he's a serious candidate then this whole thing is broken.

Does the Rooney rule apply to the GM interview process as well?

Vrabel and Robinson had friction at the end.

Would be SHOCKED if they worked together again.

I can't imagine that they would work together again, either. Vrabel would have to at least get a guarantee that Robinon wouldn't trade Garrett Wilson on draft night. :D

Let's be clear, Riddick has had some horrible draft takes on air. The fact that he is getting an interview is just noise. He in no way should be considered a serious candidate. He's a talking head and nothing more.

Vrabel got Robinson fired from the Titans before the end of the ‘22 season. Amongst other reasons, it was no secret that Vrabel didn’t want AJ Brown traded. Robinson’s last few drafts for the Titans were awful.

Louis Riddick is an absolutely awful announcer. On that basis it’s a no from me dawg.

Yeah I can’t see Vrabel and Robinson working together again.

Aaron Glenn did interview with the Jets when Saleh was selected. He now has a few more years under his belt. He could be a strong candidate.Afyrt the playoffs I'm sure you'll he'll interview w/the Jets again.

If they're interviewing Riddick, then they're already showing that they're not even remotely serious about getting this hire right either.

Just Woody looking again to make a "splash" by hiring someone from TV to do the job. If Riddick is hired, look for Rex to follow soon behind.

It’s tough to grade Robinson on his moves because their owner is a psychopath and I think many of them were her doing (like the brown trade, letting Henry leave, etc.). If I were a player, Tennessee is actually one of the very few places I would refuse to go. She sucks bigtime

I don't know anything about any of the candidates. Just hire a good GM and HC and then a solid coaching staff.

I know of nothing to support this opinion.

She wanted brown traded. She wanted Vrabel gone because he’s the only one that would stand up to her. She fired him on her own without even telling the gm. She wanted Henry gone. She’s ruined that organization.
