Gang, I recently decided to dive into over the cap, and I’m at a loss. A-Hasson Reddick, from my understanding his contract expires this year, yet for years after he’s still in the books with dead money. I get the concept of void years, but wouldn’t that be on the eagles books, not the jets? B- Am I reading this right? In ‘25 if the cut Mosley they’d have 16 dead and lose 3 million? https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-jets Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reddick is stealing his money. Not doing shit for the Jets except cashing his game checks. Thank You JD. We really needed this guy..
Overpaying and trading for players that other teams can’t wait to get rid of seems to be the jets specialty
Best GM in Jets history. Bar none. I mean, seriously, an empty office chair would have handled this situation better.
This is another case where JD stood his ground until Woody stuck his nose into it and undermined JD's bargaining position. I agree the entire pursuit of Reddick was doomed from the start and an awful idea. JD gutted the DL and was trying to cover the fuck up with Reddick.
Did JD manage to sign a single big money free agent that lived up to expectations (when compared to the cost)? - Le’Veon Bell, - CJ Mosley, - Carl Lawson, - Corey Davis - Laken Tomlinson - C.J. Uzomah, - Tyler Conklin - Allen Lazard - Aaron Rdogers - Tyron Smith - Mike Williams - Davante Adams - Haason Reddick - Rodgers Have I missed anyone?
I don’t think those were all JD…Bell and I think Mosley were both Mac…not sure about Lawson and Davis…after that I do think those guys were JD
To be fair to Woody, what real bargaining position did JD have left that Woody could have possibly undermined at that point? The season was already lost and the coach was already fired. At that point, Douglas was just hanging on just for the sake of just trying to save some respectability in the face of one of the blunders that he made that had a very direct impact on why this season has gone as poorly as it has.
JD already gave up a 3d for this fuck-up, might as well see him play. Woody is not at fault here, he is at fault for not dumping JD's ass in January. But JD fucked up the DL like total idiot, including Huff/Reddick/JFM situation.
Exactly. Without intervention from the owner, that situation was trending towards the Jets quite literally throwing a 3rd round pick away for absolutely nothing. If anything, he should have stepped in sooner and forced Douglas to get Reddick into camp one way or another. The real mistake that Woody made was retaining a coach and a GM that he clearly (and rightfully) had no faith in. Had they hired a new coach back in January, there's no doubt that they'd at least still be in the running for a playoff spot instead of careening towards a top 2 pick in what is shaping up to be a poor draft.
Woody kept saying we are a QB away, which was extremely infuriating last off-season. I mean multiple things could be true: we did not have a QB but also even a blind man could see how incompetent the coaching was and that JD failed to build OL again. I think when the season started and we looked the same as with Zach last year after 5 games he finally saw the light. Unfortunately it was too late at that point, but I actually don't blame him for trying something like firing Saleh, getting Adams in a trade and Reddick to report. Adams actually looks decent and would be worth a 3d rounder if the rest of the team was good. It didn't work, but I still think it was worth a shot. Like you said though, the big back breaking mistake was retaining JD and Bob in the offseason.
