It's specifically as it pertains to the Jets. Woody Johnson's favorite formula is rookie HC + rookie OC + rookie QB and we know the sum of that equation as it pertains to the Jets.

Flores apparently is a complete asshole and players hate him. No thanks.

Vrabel is vanilla. He’s not really a great coach. Heck I could have coached the titans with Derrick Henry in his prime….

For me it’s more about the experience of changing a crap culture based on loosing into a contender.

Campbell, Johnson and Glenn did this. They certainly had a great front office getting them the players they needed. This is why we hire the coach first and the coach hires his guy at GM. Not the other way around.

Well the QB class isn’t very good so that eliminates rookie QB… rookie HC is possible but if it’s Johnson then at least it’s a seasoned OC.

All we need to do is trade for a vet QB that was first overall and that most have given up on. Trevor Lawrence anyone?

Hire Andy Weidl the Steelers asst GM for the GM position and I want Brian Flores over anybody else that's available this offseason for HC...

Yeah... let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Jets have spent a lot of their highest draft criteria on QB during what turned out to be weak QB drafts. If Woody wants a QB then they will draft QB even if the best candidate played receiver for his first 3 years.

Zero chance that Ben Johnson comes here. There will be several head coach openings with better promise. He'd be out of his mind to basically end his career aspirations and come to this joke of a franchise.

I’ve been on the Ben train but he ain’t coming here. That feels like a certainty! The Jets are the team you coach when you don’t have any other choice.

That formula just doesn't work for the Jets. What's needed here is a established HC to come in ala Parcells and turn this team around inside of 2 years. We can't have anymore OJT HC's since by the time they've learned the job, the team will already be in the shitter going nowhere. We've done enough losing and the patience for a long term rebuild just isn't there.

Andy Weidl would be awesome but a hard pass on Flores. He’s a complete asshole and players hate playing for him

While that might be the perception, you have to think about it differently. Instead of looking at how bad things look at the moment, imagine if you will, the GM/HC combo that actually turns this organization into a consistent winner. Parcells is still a legend decades after leaving here because of what he accomplished inside of 2 years. To be a winner in the NY/NJ/CT area instantly catapults you to the top locally and makes you relevant in the national conversation. Look at the Knicks for an example of what I'm getting at.

not all players hated playing for Flores. Some, in particular, Christian Wilkins admired him. Tua of course didn’t like him but idk maybe that’s a Tua problem

I also think there’s such a thing as learning and getting better on the job, especially when it comes to relationships

I am for Ben Johnson. It would be nice if somehow we knew that he has interest instead of waiting until after Detroit’s playoff run or Super Bowl to find out he does not. Let’s wait and find out. I am in the 50+ year fan category and have witnessed the cumulative shit here. I like what I see in Ben. Let’s get him and the GM pairing he wants and get out of the abyss. I have confidence he can find a special teams coach to not let what happened against the f’n fish.

All of the guys listed above did that and they were first time head coaches. You don’t need a retread.

    He doesn’t.

“Considering HC-needy teams will mostly be seated towards the bottom of the standings, the coach is also seeking “recognition” from organizations about their shortcomings. This would require interested teams to explain where things have gone wrong and how they intend to fix the issues.”

This might possibly be the least self-aware team in all of sports!

Yes, I read that. I have not heard or read what teams he would be “ interested to talking with”. Until then, hopefully he is pursued by the Jets like Cohen did with Soto. I have only been excited about one coaching hire by the Jets and that was Parcells. I feel the same about Ben. Hope is a wonderful thing!

As unbelievable (or stupid) as it sounds considering the history. Yes, still have hope.

Coordinators are paid pretty well in this league now. I’m sure the majority of them want to be head coaches badly but the fact that Johnson passed last year on the opportunity means it could happen again.

The Jets are a desirable landing spot for a head coach because they have good talent. A few smart moves make them a top 10 team. That includes hiring a good HC and GM.
