Woody needs to throw everything at Ben Johnson to come. Give him full responsibility and autonomy to hire his own GM. Pay him whatever he wants. We can’t fuck this up!!!

BJ has literally been at the center of turning the lions from a joke franchise (sound familiar) to a Super Bowl contender. It obviously was an accumulation of Dan Campbell, the GM, the DC and Ben Johnson. The main thing is Ben was at the forefront of this turnaround and has the experience to start it here.

In my mind there isn’t a better candidate and Woody needs to realize this time that the coach needs to pick his own GM so in free agency and the draft he gets the players that fits his scheme.

The Jets job will be the least attractive job for any HC with options this offseason.

Bears, Saints, Jags, Cowboys (maybe) and Jets

Woody has to make it attractive by giving him full autonomy because that’s the only way we are going to get someone to change the culture and make progress on the field. Lions were literally in the same spot when Campbell took over the lions. That experience is vital for the Jets

He’s not taking this job. He might not even answer the phone if they’re dumb enough to even call him

I don't want anymore 1st time coaches anyways, Baldy was highly regarded and came from the 49ers and was attributed to their success, no more crapshoots with ex coordinators looking for 1st time coaching jobs, proven coach like Vrabel or bust. But given the Jets luck they will get Ben Johnson a billion dollars and a 8 year contract to come here and find out he is not a head coach but a coordinator and it will take them the whole 8 years to figure this out. We tried hiring ex coordinators to be 1st time coaches ever since Woody got here and how did that work out? If things haven't worked for 24 years to try to change shit up, not try the same shit over and over again like this bufoon pencil dick owner.

woody's reputation as a dipshit, know nothing, meddling fuck of a nepo baby will prevent any good coach from ever coming to the jets.

The Lions have drafted extremely well with a top offensive line and have a head coach that turned the culture around.

For whatever reason that’s completely disregarded here as Campbell and the front office having less to do with the turnaround than Johnson.

Johnson’s the top offensive candidate on the board and has a good resume. But he’s spoken about as a sure bet and an offensive God here. I think it’s way overstated by Jets fans at this point. He’s not the first guy to turn an offense around or have back to back good offensive seasons (year 2 with an absolutely loaded roster thanks to the front office).

Not really. Tired of first time Head Coaches. Give me a culture changer. Give me Vrabel, give me a Mike Tomlin type leader.

Yeah we’ve tried over and over with first timers, but the difference is our choices were always defensive coordinators (Mangini, Rex, Bowles, Saleh)…and our offenses sucked most of the time under these guys because not only were they not the experts on that side of the ball, they also didn’t know how to find and hire truly qualified offensive coordinators…so when the offense stank, there was no help from the HC.

I’d be ok with a first time coach if it was a bright OC … I’m just not down on hiring a defensive guy yet again. And yeah, I know it worked for Houston, but I just don’t think it’ll work for us.

Another candidate that may be a dark horse right now and don’t know at all if he’ll be in the market, but Arthur Smith has HC experience (though not great) and is doing a fine job as OC at Pittsburgh…shit, he’s got Russell Wilson playing well again. Not sure if he would be interested, but seems like he’d be worth a call at least.

Retread head coaches work out. First time head coaches work out. Offensive coaches work out. Defensive coaches work out. All of the above fail too.

There are good candidates out there for all. I never understand why people pigeon hole themselves into wanting a very specific profile.

Johnson does get too much credit compared to Campbell, but the Lions already had St. Brown, Sewell, and Goff before Johnson became OC. They still went from 25th in PPG to 5th the year he became OC.

They were both rookies but yeah I get all the love for him. I just think it’s a bit overblown here.

I agree but I doubt Vrabel comes here.

He's a branch off the Belichick tree he'll be wary of coming here.

And I'd like to know exactly why Tennessee gave up on him. That is something strange has to be something there?

In Woody's nearly quarter century of ownership when have the Jets hired a option A red hot head coaching candidate?

It doesn’t matter if you give him an island off the coast of Fiji, he’s not taking the job.

Hey Ben, we think you'll have a great time coaching in New York! We've already picked some really good coordinators for you!

Ben Johnson's not coming here. He's not even going to pick up the phone when Woody calls.

We're going to end up with either Rex or Gruden because the Jets are going to Jet.
