I don’t want Geno at all. He would be a stopgap at best. Not worth it. Tyrod Taylor is just as good.

Sam is going to get a good contract somewhere, but there is no reason why he would choose the Jets. I’d say 0.

I don't want either. This franchise needs to move forward not backwards. If either came back and it blew up that would be a new low (if you can believe that)

That's actually pretty good. He'll never need to catch.

No, nothing will ever be lower than this epic failure of a 2024 season. Not possible. Even if the team went 0-17 next year with Geno it wouldn’t be as bad.

Idk man it would be close. If we brought either guy back it would be talked about non stop before all of our games. I can just see the stats on the screen while we're losing: Darnold/Geno with the Jets vs Darnold/Geno without the Jets.

Just sets this franchise back even more and makes this an even less desirable place for QBs

    No for either.

Both have far better situations on both sides of the ball. Both have shown they can't overcome not having a supporting cast.

95% of QBs need good situations to succeed.

But I do agree I dont want either.

I would think that either one of them would laugh so hard that they wouldn't be able to finish the interview if asked about this.

I like them both and would take either one back. I don't think its likely though:

-Minnesota would be stupid to not want to hang onto Darnold. He's playing really well and has them at 10-2
-Seattle would be more likely to let Geno Smith go but I believe they are tied to him financially for next year

Seriously. The Jets had completely broken them by the time they left here. I still remember Darnold's 1,000 yard stare from his final press conference. The NYJ are not a destination that any player is seeking right now for non-financial reasons.

Not to get too far off topic, but I fully agree that NO player wants to come here unless it’s a paycheck. This team is a fucking mess.

That’s why we need a full on culture changer, and that man was Jim Harbaugh.

THAT’s what we should have done last offseason…fire Saleh and hire Harbaugh. That guy would have instilled a totally different outlook and culture here.

I don’t know who that guy is for this offseason, but that’s what we need most of all.

Maybe in hindsight, it wasn't such a great idea to build an entire roster and coaching staff around Aaron Rodgers' ego. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?!

For HC candidates, I just don't see any realistic options that would fall into the "culture changer" definition. The closest one to me would be Rex Ryan and believe me, I'm aware of how polarizing that opinion is.

Right…and that’s the problem…we’ve hired way too many rookie DC candidates in Mangini, Rex, Bowles, and Saleh. Of those, Rex was the best but none worked and none were able to field a credible offense really. The one offensive guy we hired was a total loser riding Manning’s coattails that we ALL saw through in Gase. The ONLY idiot fooled there was Woody.

That’s why although I like Aaron Glenn, I just don’t want yet another first time DC hire. It won’t work. We need an expert on offense. So then you’re talking Ben Johnson as probably the top candidate and I think he’ll have better options…maybe Jacksonville if they fire Pedersen…at least there he has a better QB option. Maybe the Saints. Shit, even the Bears would be a better option. So I doubt we get him. After that we can take a shot at Kingsbury, and he at least has HC experience, but he’ll likely have better options too.

I don’t know who it should be but we are in a bad situation…

I mean, think about it objectively. The NYJ are a team with a horrendous owner who has become increasingly meddlesome. They have no answer whatsoever at the most critical position and they are hamstrung by the cap for at least the next year. Add to that a losing culture and an extremely impatient fanbase. Who in their right mind would want to be part of this?

I don't know the answer. When Parcells took over the Jets, he brought in Vinny Testaverde, who wasn't having a great career and he had a great year on a great Jets team. If they have a great all-around team and great coaching, an average QB can be a superstar. Get the GM and head coach right, and everything else follows.

I believe the Jets fanbase has been the most patient in all of American major sports.

Who? A guy with fire in the belly who cannot believe how inept those who have come and gone have been. A guy who knows exactly what needs to be done and is amazed that they still haven't gotten a guy like him into the position.

Pat Kirwan said on SiriusXM Wednesday that when Parcells was brought into the Jets building you could feel the change within the hour. That's the kind of coach who will come to the Jets and that's who will succeed. Why be concerned about some mope who is afraid of the challenge?
