Trevor Lawrence hit on the slide, a disgusting tackle https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1863298337757110427?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
Smart to give the guy who touches the ball 12 times a year the ball on the goal line in a massive snowstorm.
It's crazy to think in week 1 we thought our loss to the 9ers was due to them being a legit SB contender. But damn!! Watching them right now, we lost to a crappy 9ers team.
Puni, Trent, Greenlaw, Bosa, McCaffrey all key guys. Kinda like what we went thru last year. Feels like a 7-10/8-9 type of season for them
The Jets need to find their version of Beane and McDermott. Those two have really changed the culture of the Bills. Before they arrived, the Bills missed the playoffs for 17 straight years. It just goes to show what a competent FO can do for an organization.
I know I’m in the minority, but I think the response on the hit is really over dramatic. The collision occurred right at the first down marker. Lawrence is trying to slide for the first down and I’m not sure what the defender is supposed to do, allow him to slide and get it? Also, Lawrence slid very late, after the defender already launched. There was no part of Lawrence’s body to make contact with because everything except his head was on the ground. I also think to some of these QBs like mahomes recently who has faked going out of bounds and getting huge gains because he knows the defenders can’t hit him. Josh Allen with a fake slide in the playoffs last year for a huge td run. You can’t allow them to slide and run out of bounds because you risk that they won’t, and you can’t hit them because everyone cries. I don’t know what we want these defenders to do other than just make them allow the qb to slide for first downs.
I agree. They put defenders in impossible situations. Sprint fast as fuck to get there and then the QB suddenly slides in an awful position. I get throwing him out because you can’t judge intent and I get the Jags fighting him over it. But it’s been absurd all these guys today crying about getting the hit out of the game.
Is there any thought if you’re the Browns to just cut bait with Watson and deal with the awful economic fallout for 2 years? He has two more years of a $72 million cap hit and it’s dreadful but I’d think you want the stink out of the franchise.
